Want to hear a match made in heaven? Media Molecule, the creators of LittleBigPlanet, say they'd love to work with Studio Ghibli. Studio Ghibli is the famous Japanese animation studio started by Hayao Miyazaki, the genius behind Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Monoke, My Neighbor Totoro and, most recently, Ponyo.

Media Molecule has recently collaborated with Square Enix and Kojima to develop LBP content, and in a recent interview with Media Molecule’s Siobhan Reddy, Develop asked if there were any other developers or licenses Media Molecule would like to work on.

"Definitely Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli," Reddy answered.

Can you imagine the kind of game MM and Studio Ghibli could create if they worked together? I think it would advance the entire genre of video games!

This would be worth buying a playstation for. I've loved miyazaki since '89 when I first saw Warriors of the Wind which was just a crappy pirated and abridged version of Nausica, even then I still thought it was awsome. It was fifteen years before I saw the real version and discovered the other great films.

    Cat bus forever!

I love studio Ghibli! And seeing what Media Molecule did in terms of originality I can see this working out very well. If anything using Ghibli for just artwork and creature creations would be all thats needed. Then let Molecule create something unique and original from all of that material would be spectacular. I doubt it will end up going that way but guess well just have to see. I bet anything they do will end up putting a smile on my face.

Some of the best news this year. Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away's stories are amazing and for someone like Media Molecule to team up and make a game, will cause an excess of excitement. At least to those that are familiar with both works. Of course I don't want similar stories. Just the same oddity.

Its Princess Mononoke not Monoke ther is two n and 3 o in it. @Stephen Johnson
Also that movie great and a game off of that be great as long it done right.
Also the game could have both English and Japanese.
Princess Mononoke is one of my favorite Japanese animated movies.
LBP + Princess Mononoke = more money to Media Molecule & Studio Ghibl.

I'd probably pee my pants over excitement--as long as Joe Hisaishi also does the score. But it would be weird to play the game in English.

man if studio ghibli makes some exclusive level packs and costumes as well as some community stages I'd probaby need a few extra pairs of pants just to play the game

I just saw ponyo and then princess mononoke last night (one of my favorite movies). This would be a big heavenly match. I bet it starts a young strong willed girl though, whatever it is they would work on together.

sony is killing me with all these great exclusives

the console war reminds me of the part in 3 amigos where steve martin (microsoft) tries to get a drink from his canteen and finds nothing

martin short (nintendo) has a canteen filled with sand

and chevy chase (sony) has a full canteen and throws the half full canteen on the desert sand

what? lip balm? maybe just one good exclsive microsoft....one
