It's pretty shocking Harmonix and MTV Games convinced The Beatles to be in a music game. A number of still-standing legendary rock groups have outright dismissed the rise of music games, but not Pink Floyd. Dummer Nick Mason told BBC News the band hasn't ruled out having its music in Guitar Hero or Rock Band, though it doesn't sound like much movement has been made.
"I think we'd consider it," he said. "I think everyone's looking at new ways of selling the music because the business of selling records has almost disappeared.
Do you think Pink Floyd is worthy of its own game or simply DLC?

I'd love Pink Floyd Guitar Hero it would be so great as long as they don't say f you to those of us that have'nt upgraded to the next gen systems like they did with Rock Band: Beatles and they put a version of it out on PS2

Some really good points so far. David Gilmour's guitar lines will translate amazingly to fit the Rock Band standard. Will the game industry ever develop a way to integrate keys in an innovative way? Floyd's music would be unrecognizable without Richard Wright laying down all the texture. Visually speaking, I would love to see Harmonix develop some of the "sonic landscapes" explored in the Beatles Rock Band more psychedelic sequences. What is compelling about the Beatles is that each year was drastically different than the last for the Band, not only in sound, but in style. When people talk about the Beatles, they often speak in terms of era. I love the mid 60's era, Rubber Soul/Revolver, but that era is most certainly different than the preceding moptops, and later, bearded hippie stage. The Beatles story is easy to translate into a long and winding adventure because the Beatle persona is just as popular as their music. They go hand in hand. The same is not true for Pink Floyd. The Pink Floyd band history is less interesting to me than their actual music. Having each song tell a different story in itself is a bold idea for any designer, but producing a variety of visual landscapes that sonically tell a story is essential in producing a more compelling game not just for Pink Floyd fans, but for any gamers exploring Pink Floyd for the first time.

World wide, Pink Floyd is one of the top selling bands of all-time. DSOTM broke the record for staying on the Billboard top 100 longer than any other album (1973 until late the 90's), and has sold more copies than any individual Beatles album. An entire PF game would be a no-brainer. PLUS Pink Floyd has exponentially more fans among gamers than the Beatles. I'd bet $1000 on that fact.

I doubt Harmonix would do it since they prefer to work on simple pop rock songs over more complicated progressive rock, jazz , and fusion.
PF is a great band, though not my favorite since it is over played in the Chicago area. It would be a good game, but for the reason stated above I most likely would not buy it.
Thundercracker
my favorite band of all time

Not to be disrespectful "iJESUSfreak", but Comfortably Numb has one of the most iconic guitar solos in the history of Rock Music, and not everything in the Beatles Rock Band is fast paced and challenging. What people need to realize is that Pink Floyd has many songs that would fit well on a game by itself. IMHO think that "Pink Floyd: Rock Band" sounds pretty good... I think the biggest problem is getting the members to sign off on it. Keep in mind, Syd and Rick have passed on, and though Nick isn't opposed of the Idea, Roger and David may not see eye-to-eye on this...

yes, Yes, YES!!! I don't have the latest RB or GH (would love the set, but don't have the money for it right now) but would definitely pull some money together for a Pink Floyd version of RB ('cause I think the did an excellent job with the Beatles).

Mother, will she sue if Kurt sings my songs?

@calgaryfan...wyf are you talking about...pink floyd doesn't have any mainstream popularity? What about the fact that dark side of the moon was on the billboard charts for 15+ years? The Beatles also didn't have any "mainstream" popularity either and just take a look at the "revolution" that has occured since the game was announced/released. Hordes of new fans who never listened to them before has made this the hottest game around right now, hell they even mentioned it during the fox pregame show on sunday. Giving Pink Floyd a RB game will do the same.
That being said...I wonder if Mtv and EA will include LSD tabs as a peripheral to really heighten the Pink Floyd experience.lol

Am I the only one that thinks marketing bands in this fashion further destroys their artistic value?
ZachtheGlitchBuster
Worthy of Game, I think so. But also a DLC for those who don't want to spring for the game and no new instruments please. We've had enough of those.
calgaryfan13
^I would adore this and probably die of happiness if it were announced, but they just don't have the mainstream popularity to support a really well done full band game. A track pack similar to AC/DC could work, however.
N8R
I'd say Rush is next... but the drum peripheral for it probably wouldn't fit in most living rooms.

DLC...don't get me wrong, i am a big Pink Floyd fan, but i think only some are Guitar Hero/Rock Band material. I mean who would want to play songs like Comfortably Numb...a great song, but it would be slow and boring to play.
crocodilius
Why wouldn't Pink Floyd have their own game.
Hell, The Wall album could be a game.

The music industry is in shambles, of course Pink Floyd is considering Rock Band, what other method is there for their music to be heard? These days all you get is crap like Little Wayne, Kanye West, and Beyonce on television and the radio, it's no wonder than music games are all the rage, it's one of the only places to hear good music!
MJimiD
I'm averse to the whole damn rock-hero 'revolution'. It's a waste. For the time people spend learning and mastering songs on a plastic nonguitar, they could be developing quality musicianship with a real instrument.
It never surprised me that Paul and Ringo joined in on the hype; it's a money-maker. Like George Carlin (hope the cremation was every bit as searing and scalding as you'd have expected) jokingly said: The wrong 2 Beatle are dead (Not verbatim). Reall though, it's unfortunate than any had to die. I can't think to know a dead man's perspective, but John wouldn't have this. He might well call this move into the not-so-video-game marketing scheme more of "Paul's granny sh't."
Is Floyd worthy of it's own Rock Band? Yes, but if you wanna go all out, you have to include every insane sound effect they ever did on a huge sound board. Then the kiddies might learn something about putting sounds together. Should they join in on the hype though? I'll answer this way:
Mini-rant aside, I understand the necessity to make money, as record sales continue to drop due to more unconventional, yet accessible methods for purchasing and obtaining music. I just find it extremely down letting that it has to be this way. The age of culture and actually going out to do activities is over. Enter: Age of Digitalia
