Gamers who have been cheating their way around Chair Entertainment’s brilliant Xbox Live Arcade title Shadow Complex could soon become intimately familiar with Microsoft’s Xbox enforcement team (Probably the coolest sounding name ever for something that geeky). Apparently, there are enough gamers out their violating the Xbox Live Terms of Service to warrant such a reaction.
To help curb the cheating, Microsoft's Major Nelson posted on his blog about what cheaters who are caught can expect for behaving in such an abhorrent way:
- The player will be deleted from the Shadow Complex leaderboard.
- The Xbox LIVE enforcement team will investigate individual players removed from the leaderboards for potential resetting of the user’s gamerscore. The reset would include all games, not just Shadow Complex.
- Those accounts determined by the Xbox enforcement team to have their gamerscore reset will be branded on Xbox LIVE as belonging to a cheater, and this information will be reflected in the gamer profile, both on Xbox.com and in the Xbox Dashboard on the console.
Ouch. All because you had to cheat? Doesn’t seem worth it to me. I’m currently waiting to hear back about what exactly people are doing to ruffle Microsoft’s feathers so much, so when I know more, I’ll let you know.
Anyone here know of any possibly ban-worthy cheating going on in Shadow Complex?

even though its single player, it is still good that ms is cracking down on losers who have to cheat to get ahead. i didn't even know you could cheat in shadow complex. the only time something 'cheaty' happened to me was when, one time i was playing cod 4, i started randomly floating and couldn't use my gun! so odd. i didn't try to do that, i was trying to hide in cod4, and it happened! life is weird

Thats MS for you, you get what you pay for. I pay for premium service and I receive it. Nobody else does the things that MS does, not Nintendo or Sony.

The only thing i heard about which was true, was that right when the game was first released if you could play the entire game for free by downloading the demo, killing the first boss then right when he dies you pause it start back at last checkpoint and rest of game would be unlocked...heard its been fixed but that's the only cheating i have heard of.

I don't understand how they cheat..because if they're just exploits then that's the developer's fault
...and you cant punish a CUSTOMER for having some fun with HIS OWN GAME.
why cant they just delete the gamer score of only SC?

theres no multiplayer in this game which is wierd why theyre going after them... i for one think itll be cool to do something like the picture and i played through the game and got almost all the achievements so by putting a cheat just to screw around seems okay to me.

I am amazed that they have gone so far with this. This is NOT a competitive multiplayer game. No one is getting cheated into loosing, the only thing effected here is the leader boards, which not many people care about. Oh and by the way does "cheating" mean using foam to get to were you are not supposed to? because that is not cheating at all that is using the design of the game to your advantage and the developer punishing their consumers this severely for something THEY messed up on, passing the blame to the people who support, them, buy their games, enjoy them so much they are going, to play the game so much that they will find out everything about it, and NOPE too bad, this should be illegal for them to do. NO ONE reads the EULA no one at all its all there so lawyers can have absolute power. This is disgusting, imagine if this applied to Epics Gears of war there would be not one person on this planet, who wouldn't be banned. Shame on you, way to make yourself look like the big bad wolf, horrible Public Relations move.

I don't know much about this game, but is this story referring to cheating in a multiplayer aspect, because cheating in a single player game doesn't warrant any kind of action, in my opinion.

WOOOW. It's a single player game who cares. the worst cheating does is effect the leaderboards and only complete nerds with no life that try to go for the high score will care. (try to stop crying u guys XP). seriousely those people should be branded "NO LIFE!!!" instead of people being branded "Cheaters" Seriousely unless u cheat online who Cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rediculous and i don't even have Shadow Complex

While cheating can be fun if it's something like singleplayer screwing around (like in the picture), when it's used to increase a score or something similar, then it needs to have consequences. So I mostly agree with what Microsoft are doing. I mean, hey, if it means that a 12 year old can't blame me for cheating in Halo 3, I'm satisfied.
