In order to incorporate Kurt Cobain into Guitar Hero 5, Activision and Neversoft would have needed consent from widow Courtney Love. Earlier today, Love told her Twitter followers that never happened. Activision has since fired back in a statement to several websites that such accusations are in accurate; Love did, in fact, sign off on Cobain's appearance in the latest Guitar Hero game.
"Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain's likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero(r) 5," said Activision in a brief statement.
Love has continued to dispute this on Twitter, however.
"activision is fulllof shit they have a a contcrct [contract] called a deal memo that said upon approvale they could use an avatar i approved," she wrote. "and i never inteneded to aPPROVE this shit, they are doing a recall you can be sure o fthat [that]. waita ew [wait a few] hours maybe tomorrow press and etc."
"activision know this aos [was] very very bad press indeed wait til you see what MY lovely lawyer has cooked up, i never ever signed off on this," she continued, just moments ago on Twitter.
Well, this continues to stay interesting.
