Maybe I’m being too sensitive about this, but there’s something unsettling about how this promo interview with Polyphony Digital head Kazunori Yamauchi goes about explaining the features of Gran Turismo PSP. I mean, why does it contain so much footage of Gran Turismo 5 when the promo's primary purpose is to tout the features of GT PSP?
The only time GT 5 footage makes sense in the piece is when the smooth-talking narrator describes the ability to eventually import your car collection from GT PSP into GT 5. Other than maybe the intro, which mentions this being the first time the franchise has gone portable, there’s no reason why there should be any footage of GT 5 in this video, mainly because it just seems like false advertising. And even though the PSP footage appears on a PSP in the promo, there are times when the gameplay footage blends into full screen GT 5 footage, making it somewhat difficult to tell exactly which game you’re looking at.
Again, I might be getting all worked up over nothing here, but I figured it was worth mentioning, because I really just wanted to see what you all think about it.
Well? Am I being too sensitive, or what?

I don't think it matters in this case, it's obvious all of the screens are 'simulated video'.
The more important thing is to listen and understand the concepts that they are trying
to explain. False advertising? Well only if the final product is way off the mark, and I don't
think it will be. JohnnyBuku hit the nail on the head though. Marketing tricks stay the same.

In the immortal words of Joe Wilson:
"YOU LIE!"
(I had to bring it up... this was the only story I saw to do such in so far)
Sawblood45
You have a point, but stretching the screen to fit tvs will probably distort the image a bit i guess since its for such a small one,

Oh my god, and there are real people and real cars in that video so they must be in the game too.

LOL - I remember in the old Atari 2600 days when the box art and commercials would tempt you with non-game graphics and you'd bring the game home and the glorious space wizard shown on the box was in reality a 16x16 4 color blob...
The more things change the more they stay the same.

I'm just glad you guys are talking about different games other than Halo ODST.
Nothing against the game or people who love it but damn, I feel like my skull is crushed in from the head beating.
As for GT5 and PSP? Why not? The PSP version will be compatible with GT5. Why not promote the big brother while promoting the little sister.

Too sensitive really. Is advertisment. At this point people get used about this type of practice.

They've been pretty shifty about the game's actual graphics all along. More than half the shots I see are pre-rendered/GT5-quality, clearly labelled as shots from GT PSP. Just makes any real shots I come across seem more disappointing.

I guess false advertisement isn't such a big deal in Japan.
I would compare it more to showing Whoppers in ads for BK minis.
Hyphnip
It is kind of a dick move. It would be like Showing Little Big Planet footage in a Little Big Planet PSP trailer.

Jake, your pretty biased towards the 360 from my experience. And both look great, so i don't really care. ill be getting GT5 though, i never use my PSP 1000 anymore.

Cant wait to get both these games!
