To celebrate the release of Harmonix's highly anticipated The Beatles: Rock Band, Microsoft, MTV Games and the humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders have teamed up to offer gamers the chance to support a fantastic cause.
Starting today, you’ll be able to bid on special edition, professionally crafted, Beatles-inspired Xbox 360s on eBay, with the proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders, the organization that Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison personally selected. There will be 50 Elites auctioned off over the coming weeks, but considering that the asking price for the first of these consoles is currently at $780, it’s clear that these consoles aren’t exactly meant for your average gamer. Still, it’s fantastic to see video games being used to help save lives and raise awareness of important global issues for a change, as opposed to being blamed for the downfall of society.
Also, starting on September 9th, Xbox Live users will be able to download the track “All You Need is Love” for 160 Microsoft Points, with the proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders as well. Downloading the song also enters you in a contest to win one of the special edition Beatles 360s and a Rickenbacker 325 replica controller. Not that you should need those things to persuade you, but I guess it doesn't hurt.
Anyone plan to bid on one of these special edition Beatles 360s?

oh jeez now it's $11,100 ! I'd still give my soul and a hobo's spleen for it,at least they go to charity!
slvchris
What the RRoD Warrenty on this one?
EQWashu
Holy crap I can't breathe...I'd give my soul and a hobo's spleen for that!
blackleo81
I would like to see a Motown inspired Rockband game thing about alot of music there

this is really just a collector's item. Even though I am a big fan of The Beatles, I would not choose this over another 360 console that does the same thing.

That looks nice and creative.

Always nice to see people helping other people. Makes me proud to be of the human race for a change. Only wish I were employed so I could chip in.

Still not as good as PS3

Seems like original body kit, which doesnt ventilate easily enough on its own. Face plate is all I would be interested in.

Sony only cares about getting money not giving it!
ANDREtheGAMER
If I had the money, I'd buy this in a second. Do Want.
ProjektX13
Why isnt there any PS3's being auctioned off for charity? this just in Sony hates charity!!!!

I love the Beatles, probably more than anything--and I love Xbox--but if there's anything dirty dirty about this story; it's having a console-exclusive downloadable song, with the proceeds going to charity. If it goes to charity, it needs to be multi-platform, to get as much money as possible
BONERJAM
It looks awesome but I'm not a big enough Beatles fan to want such a thing.
SiK
Looks nice it looks like it was made from Color Ware .com
SlickyFats
I know it for charity and all, but at least make the front bezel flow into the sides a bit better rather than make it look like an after-thought add-on piece of plastic. Otherwise its gorgeous.
quyet11
