Obama Disses Xbox Again

President Barack Obama

I've stood by and watched while president Obama gave up on the public option in the healthcare overhaul, and I even support his Marxist takeover of The United States of Amerikka, but with this morning's speech to our nation's school kids, Obama has finally gone too far. Obama has dissed the Xbox -- again!

"Now I’ve given a lot of speeches about education. And I’ve talked a lot about responsibility. I’ve talked about your teachers’ responsibility for inspiring you, and pushing you to learn," Obama said this morning in his address to the youth of the country. "I’ve talked about your parents’ responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and get your homework done, and don’t spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with that Xbox," Obama said.

Obama has been flogging the "ZOMG! Turn off your Xbox!" line since before he was Supreme Dictator of the U.S., So I can only conclude that the president is a PS3 fanboy, either that or it's a coded, political "dog whistle" statement aimed at people sill using the original Xbox. He didn't' say put down the 360, after all. But either way, this aggression will not stand, man.

Obama went on to namedrop the iPhone, but not in a negative way, saying:

"Maybe you could be a good writer – maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper – but you might not know it until you write a paper for your English class. Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor – maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or a new medicine or vaccine but you might not know it until you do a project for your science class."

Yeah, right... You, invent an iPhone! Bah-ha-ha!

Anyway, I also heard that if you play Obama's speech to school kids backwards, all he says is "hail Satan!" again and again. But that's a rumor based on my imagination. Let us know what you think about Obama's speech in our comment section, readers!

I call extreme presidential racism on this one. He doesn't want people playing the Xbox [360] because it's... matte!

If the president is advising not to spend so much time with television and or xbox then I can hardly call that dissing.I don't even think he means do not pick up a controller to that xbox (or any other gaming console) ever, when you should be spending every waking moment studying. He's suggesting on cutting back on Xbox which has been the term to refer to gaming for a while, or not having to list all the consoles that are out there. Obama is correct in saying this to kids (not adults), when we see some, if not most of the kids in this country are over weight; not exercising; or at least being active and doing some reading at least one hour a day in their spare time other than just sitting in front of the television with a controller in their hands.

Hum, the president of the united states mentions an american console without saying anything about its japanese competition... I am not sure if the person who wrote this is able to tell acknowledgement and disrespect apart. Someone fire this seven year old already since this isnt either amusing nor is it journalism...

Guess I was right: many people took this article to the heart. Do you know how embarrassing it is to admit you don't like a person bc u "believe" that person likes a 360 over a PS3? I am one of far too few who knows where Obama was going when he said those words. Not enough of you are using your minds right with some of these posts;if you're capable of flanking with teammates on CoD u should b able to hear what a person is "saying",not what a person says (yea it makes sense). You really think The President of this country has time to advocate a 360 over a PS3? Really? In a speech to motivate kids to be educated and help in shaping America's future?

And all of you who go on saying stuff like,'it's bc Obama knows PS3 is the better system',ya'll ain't no better than the 360 fans mad with this article. Time to grow up people!

Yall ppl (with all respect) are seriously ridiculous, not jocking, yall make a storm from a glass of water. Like many of the ppl have commented here... He ment videogames in general, and ppl that are not really into videogames seems to call the general concept of videogames as the name of the moments most popular cosole or easy to remember. Xbox its way easyer to remember than PlayStation, and Nintendo is sometimes easier to remember because its has been around for a way longer period of time. I mean, i have seriously seen ppl calling a console Xbox or Nintendo when refering to a PlayStation... It had happen quite few a times in my house with my ps3 and in the middle of other random conversations... it happens

I would argue that Obama sees the 360 as a stronger, more popular console than the PS3 or Wii and chooses to mention the Xbox in an attempt to directly address more Americans.

@ ddc2494 Thats what journalists do, What ever it takes to get more ratings and views even if it means starting a flame war. I'm no saying this about all journalists but every time i see CNN there is always a giant argument going on.

I don't have a problem with going out side but he thinks we should read instead of playing video games. This is a good point because book are obviously better for you than games, somehow....

Stephen Johnson, please just GTFO and STFU you blew this way out of proportion if you had even a little ounce of smartness(I know its not a word) You would know he was just saying Xbox in general. Why are you even on G4 you have to be the MOST stupindous ignoramous journalist EVER! All you ever do is post articles that you KNOW will cause drama, political arguments and flames. How did you even get a job at G4?! are you even a real journalist?! I for one actually attend college for journalism and any real journalist would know the difference between a 'diss' and using one item as a example. He/His Writer might not know too much about Games/Systems in general therefore they probally just listed Xbox because thats a common term(No joke), In New York you would hear plenty of people talk "Hey you wanna play Halo" "Im getting on my Xbox" etc.

I think I stated my point. Lastly G4 if you read this can you please just fire Stephen? He never really contributes to anything like everyone else does.

I think the presidents real point was, work hard, play later. I know its easy to say that he's against video games, but lets face it....he doesn't know what he is talking about when he refers to all video games as "xbox". He meant well. I think he is doing a great job so far and the moment I am unhappy with the president is when he starts making laws against video games.

People, *cough* Stephen Johnson *cough*, are taking this way too seriously. He wasn't telling kids to never play video games again and spend all your time doing school work. Obama was just telling kids to get their priorities straight. It's no secret that the overall US test scores are rather low compared to other countries. Part of why that is, is because too many kids are not caring about school and spending their time playing video games and watching TV. He was just addressing the issue and trying to motivate kids to focus more on school and not on video games/TV.
