Apparently the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid: Rising teams hate each other. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but even Hideo Kojima has admitted that there's jealousy and tension between the two teams. In an interview with GamePro's Travis "Pretty Boy" Moses, Kojima said:
"The reason why I say they are not good friends is because the PSP is working day and night to make it even better than MGS4, but of course they can't do it because of a lot of restrictions. On the other hand, the Rising team is using loads of money and loads of capacity and hardware specs. If you could imagine the PSP team looking at the Rising team saying, they have all the money and specs. That's the one reason why they are not good friends."
What's amusing is how Kojima views the situation:
"It's interesting for me to see the team members act in this way. This was never before because it was always just one small team. Now we are much bigger. So it's really interesting for me to watch the team right now."
That's great that it's interesting for you Hideo. Let's see how interesting you think it is when Kojima Productions employees start throwing each other out of windows! Seriously though, the competition might be a good thing; I've met a lot of people that work better when they have a chip on their shoulder. I'm not sure if that feeling is prevalent in Japanese workplaces, but it could be a motivator. Then again, I've met a lot of people that generate crappy results when they're bitter. I'm curious to see how it all pans out.
Also, in my head I see Kojima watching his employees like a kid watches an ant farm...but perhaps that's just me.

I don't mind... so long as it doesn't interfer with the game development and stuff...

It's not just you Raymond.

I think Kojima was pressured to make metal gear 5 for the xbox 360 and found the psp as the solution and to make everyone happy he allowed other people to make a game out of his franchise.

peace walker will be crap cuz the psp is crap

I can't wait for Peace Walker. I new good game for my psp. Hooray!

I just hope Rising has the the same American PS3 control scheme as MGS4. And definitely cant wait for MGS: Peace Walker

While I think the rivalry is a good thing if Kojima wants it to stop he needs to hire Terry Tate office linebacker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =RzToNo7A-94 That will get the employees back in line.

Rising will be better on the PS3 because knowing Kojima the game is gonna be huge and that means more then one disc for 360 owners. Ouch.

Yeah, but MGSR is gonna be a beast. Not to take anything away from Peace Walker, but those whom have played Portable Ops kind of know what to expect. Who knows, it could be a wolf in sheep clothing. Just let us know when people start hitting the pavement.

The competition is on, baby!! Oh yeah... it's really real...

Perhaps its a difference of where their loyalties lay. The PSP team being pro-Sony, as Kojima Productions has traditionally been, and the Rising team being completely neutral. Japanese loyalties are much different than those of us Americans. The PSP team may see the Rising team as backstabbers, double-dealers, etc......
@ABabyHippo
I am not trying to sound fanboyish on this or anything, but MGS belongs on the PS3 forever and always. I just cant picture myself playing MGS on the 360. Actually come to think of it, I kinda take the PSP teams side of it all. Ah well, thats a different argument........

Please someone correct me because I can't remember the specifics off the top of my head. But remember when the Mac & Apple were two seperate computers? They were different "lines" of computers and they did not like each other because they felt as if they were competing (and from the movie that depicts these events even encouraged it).
Same thing, in the end the people will get a product that they like.

A little workplace rivalry never hurt anyone. Plus that leads to better end product for the users. (Thats Me!)
