The handheld world will be paying very close attention to the iPhone and iPod Touch this fall, as Rockstar Games will be bringing Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars to the platform later this year. Chinatown Wars failed to become a breakout hit on the Nintendo DS, prompting Rockstar to announce a PSP version that's being released in October.

No details on the iPhone version have been released -- price remains a big mystery.

Rockstar is also bringing its long-in-development Timbaland collaboration for the PSP, Beaterator, to the iPhone, as well. It's also coming sometime in the fall.

Chinatown Wars is one of my favorite games from this year. If you haven't checked it out on the DS, it comes highly recommended. Me? My eyes are on the iPhone and iPod Touch versions -- Rockstar has the potential to really shake up the marketplace there.
