Japan gets all the cool gaming stuff. The North American version of Dissidia: Final Fantasy is just shipping and Japanese gamers will be getting their second version of the game in a few months. Called Dissidia Final Fantasy: Universal Tuning, this version of the game will have all the American improvements and a few more surprises. OneLastContinue reported:
"Announced via this week’s issue of Shonen Jump magazine, Dissidia: Universal Tuning is Japan’s version of the US version of Dissidia, featuring English voice acting, all of the balance tweaks and upgrades added to the English version, as well as the Arcade mode and rebalanced difficulty. While nothing further is set in stone as of yet, the Final Mix versions of producer Tetsuya Nomura’s games often include a trailer for the next game in the series as unlockable bonus content."
The good news for importers is that save files for the original version will be compatible with Universal Tuning. I've been playing the hell out of Dissidia -- even after my review posted -- and can't seem to put it down. If the new version has enough tweaks and a few Nomura goodies, I might have to import it.
While I'm on the topic, are any of you picking up Dissidia this week? If you read Japanese, are you just going to hold out for Universal Tuning?

I don't have a PSP. So I am waiting for the PS2 version of the game. Sometimes PSP games become PS2 games two or three years later.

I got Dissidia at midnight yesterday and I know exactly what you mean man. I'm a die hard Final Fantasy fan but I didnt set my expectations too high for Dissidia because it was a "fighting game," but wow was I in for a suprise! The game is awesome! I mean really good! It's got as much rpg elements in it as it does fighting and theres so much game! Between all the unlockables, things to aquire, accomplishments, etc. it'll keep me pleasently occupied till the fall releases start rollin out! If your'e on the bench about the game it really is a great buy fellas. Very refreshing game for the genre:).

Didn't know Tetsuya Nomura is behind this one. I hope this means he threw in a Kingdom Hearts character as an unlockable!
