With Guitar Hero 5, Neversoft and Activision are delivering a hotly requested feature introduced in Rock Band 2: the ability to transfer downloadable content from one game to another. Your Guitar Hero: World Tour downloadable content will work just fine in Guitar Hero 5, but there's a catch: it won't work the other way around, according to an Activision rep who spoke with Destructoid.
"The advancements and innovations made to the franchise do not allow for downloadable content to be backwards compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour," said the company.
Rock Band and Rock Band 2 do not currently have this problem. You can purchase downloadable content released that's been released after Rock Band 2 dropped and use it in Rock Band without issue. Whether Harmonix and MTV Games will able to maintain such promises as the Rock Band gameplay evolves remains to be seen, but there's evidence it's already an issue. The Beatles: Rock Band downloadable content won't work in other Rock Band releases, nor is there an export music option, ala Rock Band.

The reason TB:RB stuff isn't transferable to RB2 is because each song is matched with a specific background and design. The Beatles songs weren't meant to be played in front of screaming audiences at cbgbs...

There's a LOT of work that could be done to gameplay difficulties on both titles.
Why oh why is EASY mode confined to three keys? There should be settings to allow you
to play the more advanced fingerings at lower speeds. That's a better way for people to learn
than throwing insane speed and extra keys and fingering tricks all at the same time. I like the complexity of the added notes and fingerings but I'm not real keen on stuffing the warp speed on top of it. Sometimes you just want to leisurely play and that part is missing.
What they need is each level of key fingerings at each level of difficulty, So someone that isn't used to the warp speed of expert can have a better chance of learning to play quickly by having the 'easy' note sequence thrown at them, tehn graduate to Med/Hard and culminating in Expert/Expert.

The difference is Rock Band 2 didn't introduce a double bass and expert+ difficulty.

i hope they keep on supporting WT. cause i wont get GH5 for a while, cause i just bought world tour not long ago.
i'll be piss, if they just stop making DLC for WT, and DLC for GH5 is not playable on world tour

as much as this does suck to people who arnt willing to get gh5, I'm set. I got most of the DLC for ghwt and im getting gh5 plus gh can halen for free
looking forward to this game

i'm not surprised at this. otherwise, people wouldn't buy GH5.

Why would I ever want to put World Tour in my console ever again once I by GH5. Thats the question.
Storm7789
This seems to be quite logical to me, it just seems to make sense that it wouldn't work backwards. Also I wouldn't see why you would want to play them on World tour considering you can move all your songs now.

I agree with xyfire. It like saying I really want to play my RB2 songs on RB1. Why would you ever want to do that.
xyfire
Oh well. I may not even buy GH5. I didn't buy WT. It's just too easy imo... As for the above topic, there isn't a real good reason for WT to have to be able to support GH5 songs. If you have em both, just slip in the GH5 disc :p

I don't know why this is a problem its not like Activision has ever been that keen on using DLC, Your lucky that you can export dlc in the first place. Besides who wants to play a song they bought with less features than if they played it using the sequel.
