Open Tryouts For 'American Ninja Warrior' in Los Angeles

Do you watch Ninja Warrior and think to yourself, 'yeah, I can totally do that?' Well, the time has come to put your foolhardy metaphorical money where your actual mouth is. Here's your chance to try out in Los Angeles to be one of ten people who get to go to Japan to take on the Ninja Warrior course and try and become a living legend.

If you think you can actually take on the course, we'd love to see you try. All you have to do is show up to the location below on either of the dates listed, and try out by tackling our new, Ninja-inspired obstacle course on camera. Or, if you're too queasy to take on the course, you can come out and watch.

WHEN:

SATURDAY, AUGUST 29 and SUNDAY, AUGUST 30
(Tryouts take place between 7 AM and 6 PM, both days. Arrive early! Contestant spaces are filled on a first come, first served basis.)

WHERE:

In the lot behind Best Buy and Costco in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles.
(2861 Los Feliz Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90039)

In the spirit of Ninja Warrior, costumes are encouraged.

Here, now, the rules:

  • You must be an American citizen or resident over the age of 21 to try out
  • Do not wear clothes with visible copyrighted logos, images or brands
  • Bring a valid picture ID
  • Final rounds will take place Monday, Aug. 31 and Tuesday, Sept. 1 in Los Angeles
  • Final team of 10 will fly to Japan the second week of September 2009
  • For more information, directions and parking details, call 818-728-3729
  • Gates open at 7 am sharp. PLEASE DO NOT LINE UP BEFORE 6AM!
  • Contestants are encouraged to bring towels and an extra change of clothing.

I've trained for 5 years pretty much everyday for Ninja Warrior ever since I saw it on TV as little lad. I'm now 19 I have done the 70ft rope climb within 40sec I have the worlds largest salmon ladder I have multiple cliff-hangers and other obstacles I also help my Uncle work as a roofers laborer so that works me out to. I'm ready to conquer Sasuke but because of the age limit I can't even attempt it. I would do really well. I have one year and eight months before I can compete. Watch out Sasuke Corey H. Haring or in other words (chnw12) is coming your way!

anyone know if they will be hosting tryouts in any other parts of the country? it seems kinda stupid if they want more numbers to turn out to host something so awesome and easy to qualify for in one part of the country especially when we know there are tons of illegals in that area. :) why dont they do some sort of a pre qualifier? like have 4 or 5 major cities host a tryout then the best compete for japan. not everyone has the ability to set aside several days to fly out or drive to california just to have a minute or two to pass or fail the course.

Why cant someone under the age of 21 compete? I don't understand if in "Ninja Warrior" competitors can begin trying out at the age of (if i remember correctly) 14 or 15. I in all honesty believe that if you wanted to find a true "American Ninja Warrior" you would allow for the same age range to compete. And another thing i would like to address is the time trial senario's in order to even have a chance to run the course. I am simply an 18 year old guy who if given the chance to run the course against an uncompetitive clock would preform differently than if i were to be forced to compete with another competitor. Thirdly I would simply like to ask about the champion senario. The fact that there is such a different mentality and goal behind "American Ninja Warrior" has generated a less exciting feeling towards the show. Competeing for a large sum of money as compared to what it is in Japan. Sorry, not nearly as exciting or intising. Hope to hear back from someone about this, because to be honest i would love the chance to either succeed or fall face first into those pools of water, but I simply wish for the charater of the American version to not 'Americanize' a show that has captivated so many.

    Yours C.Q.
