The Beatles Rock Band

Game Informer magazine was lucky enough to speak to an actual living legend, Sir Paul McCartney. McCartney was in a little band called Wings. You may have heard of them, or his side project, The Beatles. Plus, he's a Knight -- not a D & D Death Knight, either; a for-real Knight of the United Kingdom. If that wasn't cool enough, McCartney is a fan of Pilotwings!

As an unrepentant Beatles freak (like all decent humans), reading Sir Paul's words on  my favorite hobby is amazing. Among many other interesting tidbits, Paul reveals the fact that upcoming music game The Beatles: Rock Band features Beatles factoids at opportune moments. Not only that, but all facts are Beatle-approved. "If you get certain bonus points, you get information. You get interesting anecdotes," McCartney said.

"One of my roles, and Ringo's roles was to check those. I was letting them flash by one demo, and I, 'Woah, wait a minute, if this is going out then it's like the new Bible.' This is like if these go out and we've endorsed it, these better be right. So I said, 'Just slow that down, read this out to me... Paul said to John... oh, now that's not right. No, no what I said was we should...' They said, 'Oh, great,' and then they took notes. So they were very good that way. They had it pretty much laid out, but we were there to fine tune it. Particularly things like that. Certain little anecdotes that had become fan mythology, but in actual fact aren't right. Those are bound in Beatles legends. So you've got to put a few of those right."

Paul goes on to talk about Pilotwings, that SNES and N64 flight game, by saying: "I like Pilotwings and stuff like that. I liked the way you used to crash on purpose: 'No!'"

Is this finally enough to get Nintendo to make a new Pilotwings game? I mean, Paul freakin' McCartney wants it, Nintendo, Do it! Anyway, the rest of the interview is awesome, and you should read it... how often does a real, living legend talk about video games?

Sorry Paul, but Nintendo is not smart that way. They don't give customers what they want. Heck thay wouldn't even release Pilotwings or Pilotwings 64 on VC.
