Where do music games go from here? DJ Hero and Scratch: The Ultimate DJ are exploring otherwise ignored areas of music, but Guitar Hero and Rock Band may begin stretching themselves thin. In an interview with CVG, Guitar Hero 5 project lead Brian Right said he's looking at Project Natal and Sony's motion technology for ideas, though he hasn't settled on using either yet.
"Ask me the same question next year," he teased.
There's actually some interesting opportunities for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero to take advantage of the motion technologies from Microsoft and Sony. Both sets of technology are rooted in a camera that captures what's happening in front of the screen. How many times have you jumped around, kicked your foot in the air or headbanged during a particular good song? What if Rock Band and Guitar Hero could reward you for your stage performance and grant extra points and star power?
That would be awesome. Sign me up.

That sounds lame.

They need to give up the fake guitars and start actually teaching people to really play the instruments

Activision new game in 2011 will be Air Guitar Hero, You play by how fast and high your arm moves.
I can't wait

If you think this is a good idea, try playing Wii music. See how fun it is, you will want to slam your hand in a car door to take your mind off of that garbage.

Wait a min. Sony can't be useing a camera, Microsoft invented that with Natal, and its not even out yet, or could it be X-box is ripping off Playstation, and they are ripping off Nintendo, and when will all the nonsense with motion controls end??? I play video games to be lazy, they need to quite trying to ruin that for me.

Guitar Hero with Motion control? Isn't that called DDR?
Shockwave562
yikes... so much as this natal (I pronounce it neyt-l cause it makes me laugh) and magic wand business doesn't interfere with my 'core games I won't be too upset. I don't really care if GH or RB uses it really. I think the Wii tried a motion music game... awful
BONERJAM
Now we will need to learn our "stage" moves.
Warheart1188
OMG. What if they did it without a guitar controller? Air Guitar Hero: The Video Game! Yeah, very stupid, I know but that's what this sounds like it could be heading if the GH and RB guys were dumb as hell. Can't kids be normal and join a real band already?
Kanaye
I'd need more info on it's implementation...it's too soon for me to make a judgment. Nonetheless, I think both Guitar Hero and Rock Band function well with only plastic instrument controllers...
PRODIGYXJ7
wow thats pretty cool if they do that
greyfish7
doesn't tilting the guitar upward for starpower/overdrive count as motion control already?
MaximusPaynicus
...why?
