Final Fantasy XIV Online Beta To Start This September?

If Xbox 360 users are looking for someone to blame for the stagnant development of Square Enix’s MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV Online for the 360, kindly address your concerns to Microsoft.

Square Enix producer Hiromichi Tanaka explained the issue to VG247 at GamesCom, saying, “Because 360 has its own policy with Xbox Live that is different from [the] internet, that’s something we’re in discussions with Microsoft [about], to come to an agreement.”

Tanaka went on to say that this policy dispute is one of the primary reasons why the game hasn’t been announced for the 360, and why it will only be launching on the PlayStation 3 and PC next year. While this is certainly sad news for 360 owners who are really looking forward to the game, it’s a nice change of pace to hear about Microsoft’s console holding up development of a game for a change.

Don’t you agree?

also... x-box will get FFXIV eventually. they obtained way too many subcribers releasing XI for the 360 to not do the same for XIV. sad, but true :[

If you aren't a fan of FFXI, and you enjoy MMOG's, then you are flat out dumb. Sorry it's not a casual friendly n00b game.

F%$K 360, and their owners. M$ only got into consold not for the love of games. But, the huge amount of money they were bringing in. ALL!! 360 games has been built and successfully marketed threw HYPE! Only the multi platform games are decent on 360. Huge money goes out for advertisement to help fuel the hype monster. Go anywhere in the gamming world. Europe, Any of the Asian countries. Middle east, the ones that can afford to play a game that is. Canada. They all prefer games from the Asian Gaming company. Even in america. Most games sold on the 360 comes from the Asian Game Producers.

To be honest MS XBOX 360 only advantage is the deep pockets they pay people in the TV LAND to talk about their crap. And any decent gamer knows this.

They had it coming. I said before and I'll said it again. M$ is the one holding up the release of FF for PS3.

This seems like a simple problem with a simple solution. MS should let FFXIV be the only game on Xbox live to be played online with a silver membership. I think they both want money and that's why they're at a standstill. Although this problem wouldn't exist at all if MS didn't charge for Live in the first place.

I like how people are all over Microsoft for this with out knowing what the real reason is, what if they are disputing over Square Enix wanting to charge subscription fee's for FFXIV and Microsoft not wanting to charge Live owners an extra monthly fee for a game?

"it s a nice change of pace to hear about Microsoft s console holding up development of a game for a change."

Remember the good 'ole days when reporters were suppose to be unbiased when they told us the news? I sure do miss those golden years.

I also love you people that are blasting on the 360 about how bad MS sucks and how you "feel sorry" for 360 owners. I mean, cause FFXI did so good right? You should feel sorry because obviously people care about FF MMO's right? You PS3 owners are awful lucky.

I really could care less for any MMO's out there, i mean don't get me wrong i played WOW for a good amount of time but i just could deal with all the BS and stupit stuff in that game, i mean if people want to waste their lives playing a game like that why would they waste time playing an MMO on a console> they have given their lives to WOW and thats that, and i for one feel sorry for them and have something to say........GET A FREAKEN LIFE

I think this is great. Square wants to charge big cash money for this game and Microsoft is saying... no. People pay to play online already. It's called the LIVE Gold service. Deal with it. And square is like. -_- Wewantmoremoneyplzlol

I'm not interested in MMOs or this game coming to XBox. What I am concerned about is that this is just the latest in the ongoing closed-off mindset Microsoft has about its console. From third-party peripherals, to the old XBox Live file size maximum, to MODs, to hard drives, and now to this.

I'll bet my good red horse that this "agreement" between Square Enix and Microsoft over the terms of Xbox Live as it pertains to Final Fantasy XIV is simply all about money.

I don't even have a good red horse, but if I happen to lose the bet, I will buy a good horse and paint it red just to give it to the person I lost to. Hell, I'll even throw in the Oblivion armor for it free of charge.

That reminds me where did I put my glue ?

Thats sucks for them, FF11 was better on PC and Im sure FFXIV will be the same way.

Thats right Id prefer it on PC over PS3 AND 360, dont even play the fanboy card on me.

still skeptical about MMOs on consoles. I like chatting with a keyboard while still playing the game, feel its hard to do on a console.
