Dark Void is no longer releasing in 2009, but Capcom isn't waiting long into 2010 to release their new high-flying action game. Dark Void is now scheduled for a release on January 12th. The publisher revealed the new release date for Dark Void as GamesCom 2009 is underway in Germany.
The delay moves Dark Void out of the busy holiday period, but with the glut of games following the same strategy, is the beginning of 2010 becoming the new Christmas?

Publishers are making the same mistakes all over again. In the last three months of 2008 we had an excess of high-quality games being released and most gamers could only choose a couple considering the tough economic times. Sure, games like Fallout 3, Fable II and Gears of War 2 had higher name brands. But the real problem was that there was just too many games to choose from and most people gravitated towards proven franchises. You think the publisher's would learn from their mistakes and release there games more evenly though next year. But no, instead of competing with the likes Halo 3: ODST and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, they decide to push them back for early release next year. Now it's true that some of these games are not as well known, they will still be competing with each other in early next year to see what game takes the top spot. Once again, gamers have to choose a game among the excess of them being released in the first quarter of 2010.

This game looks like a lot of fun and I have been waiting to play it, however, January is starting to look rather crowded. All these games being pushed back to avoid competition seems to have resulted in a pile up in the first quarter of next year. So even though I look forward to playing this game it might get passed up to games like MAG.

I'm looking forward to it, but mainly because I'm a huge fan of Nikola Tesla.
