Long Awaited SOCOM Confrontation Patch 1.50 News Coming Soon

UPDATE: 3:52PM PST Sony has since retracted their statement regarding SOCOM Confrontation's patch.

Though Zipper Interactive started the SOCOM franchise, it didn't handle the last major release, SOCOM Confrontation. Slant Six Games did. The studio promised a major patch for SOCOM Confrontation -- dubbed patch 1.50 -- for many months now. Several readers contacted me about the seemingly excessive incubation time for the patch, so I contacted Sony for an update.

"We will be making an announcement shortly, this week or early next," said a Sony representative over e-mail this afternoon.

People have a real reason to be upset. SOCOM Confrontation's version 1.50 patch was announced way back at the beginning of April. It's now the middle of August. That's over three months for a patch that's designed to address some key community requests, including the addition tournaments, clan ladders, calendars and a long list of other minor tweaks.

You can peruse the whole list at this developer post from April.

Sony's response doesn't provide a timeframe for the patch or how Sony intends to handle the rollout of patch 1.50 and the already announced patch 1.60, which will introduce a series of new free downloadable content, but hopefully we'll know more soon.

Wondering if there are any newer articles on this game. /6 is scheduling a new DLC release with maps and other junk after over a year of frustrating play by gamers, and they're charging for it as well. Peeps on the forums aren't happy, wondering what others on here, or even what G4 had to say.

I love the game, only issues are:
    - Few remaining glitches need to be fixed.
    - Lag in some games, but most of the time after the game we just get everyone to jumb to new server.
    - FAMAS owns everyone, headshot
    - Loss of game sound.

Most all the things are in all online games, I find more issues in COD4 and WaW but everyone complains about this game.

The patch is mainly for feature that's that were supposed to be in the game when we bought it but were not ready. Tournaments, clan ladders, calendars.
They are in the little manual with the game but not in game. Also sets up game for DLC. Also fixes fAMUS, increases DE-50c damage (yes)

They said Free DLC coming after patch:
2 new factions, each with new rifle.
    New voice overs and music

After that DLC, they said we would have new maps by end of the summer, well see.

I will say new maps would go a long way to make people happy. They sould include at less 3 new map in the Free DLC and I think everyone would be happy.

Even with issues and lack of features SOCOM is my favorite game. The gameplay is what makes the game, from the time the clock starts in the 1st round till last second it's the best game out. People not worried about trophies, perks, chalanges in game, they just want to win, that's what I like. Community is cool for the most part, some go crazy in the lobby. Maps are nice, The photo is funny, I wish I could find 3 players standing on that platform like that in quarintine, easy kills. oh speaking of quarintine that should make it where you could be seen when you go under water to prevent camping.

dude! how many emails were you guys @ g4 getting about this?
i sent several asking for help with this just this week.
i'm just curious about what prompted them to open up?
was it the volume of complaints and phone calls and emails or
was it the fear of bad press?

thanks for getting us some info.

Egh, I couldn't care less. That game was awful, and a waste of money. Atleast I got a mic with it.

We were told about the patch on 3/10. Its been 5 months and counting. And the 1.50 patch isnt really fixing the game its just adding features that all Socom game should have and adding the in game ladder features which were advertised on the box from almost 10 months ago. I only want 1.50 because we were told we wont get DLC until it is released. After 1.50 we will finally get DLC after waiting more then 10 months. This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =RZyr27LRxag says how we would get DLC every 3 months. 10 months later the games major problems have been fixed but a lot of the minor annoying problems still linger. The game requires patches for patches and the community is left in the dark about whats going on. We finally got info on DLC but that was at the end of June and has since been 43 days of nothing. We are just tired of waiting and waiting while games like KZ2 and COD WAW are on there 3rd map packs, the online portion doesnt require countless patches and they have offline content as well and they were all released after Socom. Ive personally stopped playing Confrontation just got tired of doing the same thing over and over again with vague or empty promises on patches and DLC.

I personally dont care about patch 1.5.. We have been waiting for months still playing the game in the state its in. 1.5 paves the way for our promised map packs So in that since Im glad its coming..Same 7 maps for almost a year, 3 of them being old. Its gotten quite stale :(

Mr. Klepek, I wouldn't hold my breath for that patch. The 'Coming soon" excuse is something socom fans have been used to for a long time.

Just out of curiosity; What is wrong with the game that makes this patch so highly desirable?

Finally about time , my clan was about to quit the game if they didn't hear anything about the patch. Slant 6 needs to quit making Socom games because the customer service stinks.
