It's been a long time since Command & Conquer and StarCraft could go go head-to-head, but such a scenario is possible in 2010, now that Blizzard has confirmed StarCraft II has been pushed into next year. Command & Conquer 4 is targeted for sometime in 2010 and VideoGamer.com spoke with producer Jim Vessella about what StarCraft II means for Command & Conquer 4.
"Sure it's intimidating," said Vessella. “It's one of the most powerful franchises in gaming and it's going to take the market by storm. […] What I hope is that gamers will try both."
Considering one of Command & Conquer 4's big hooks is the conclusion of the series' long-running tiberium storyline and StarCraft II is, well, StarCraft II, it seems likely both sides will simply benefit from a reignited interest in the real-time-strategy genre.
