There might not be much to smile about at Swedish developer Grin's corporate offices. Sources referenced by game blog Gamasutra say the company has seen significant layoffs, and may not be around much longer. Grin's Barcelona and Gothenburg offices have apparently already been shuttered, and its main office in Stockholm may be next.
Grin was founded in 1997, and is best known for Bionic Commando and the PC versions of the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, as well as the Diesel Engine, a Grin-developed game engine uses, most recently for just announced Lead & Gold - Gangs of the Wild West, a multiplayer, Western shooter from Fatshark.
So far, Grin has issued no comment on the potential closure, telling Videogames 247 “At the moment we have no comment to anything [related to] that matter."
I'll let you know more when I know more.
