So far, I have continued to resist the temptation to play World of Warcraft. I've made it two expansions into the mammoth MMO without giving in, but will the next expansion, rumored to be titled Cataclysm, change my mind? Hard to say until Blizzard Entertainment says what Cataclysm is all about, but WoW.com claims to have confirmed with multiple sources what the next two playable races are going to be.
- Worgen – Alliance
- Goblin – Horde
Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Actually, to be quite honest, I have no idea what effect this will have on World of Warcraft. TheFeed readers, can you enlighten me?

I can't wait for the next expansion. I have been level 80 for a while, but I'm trying to save up everything I need for the next expansion. Hopefully theres another hero class.

I have to agree with many ppl on the WTF factor of races. I think Ogres would be better for the horde considering the long line of alliances with the Horde but whatever. The problem with the Goblins, is that they are neutral and that would cut out a huge chunk of gameplay from the alliance. Considering the fact that there are 4 goblin towns. But then again, even the goblins have different factions as well so it could play out well. (Steamwheedle Cartel and Venture Co). As for the alliance, worgen. . . . ya. I guess the Gilneas thing makes sene so we'll see. I've always been a fan of the Furbolgs, namely the Timbermaw.

I think Worgen with the Alliance makes more sense than Goblins on the Horde. Gilneas (the area south of silverpine) is rumored to be full of Worgen. With a Great Sea theme, that would be a good place to put a new race. If Blizzard decides to put Goblins with the Horde, I will be surprised. The Goblin captial city of the Undermine would be a great neutral city.

@ INGammerHH and dont forget about the High elfs and blood elfs their story is how the blood elfs used arcane from demons etc. to rid of there addiction
and the High elfs suffered and waited.

I just got WoW in june and I'm already lvl 78 and i got a lvl 60 Woo Hoo Recruit a friend but I'm reinstaling WoW because i had to restore my PC after my HDD failed :( but in the next expansion i just want to see another hero class and region but those races are pretty good.

As to what effect this will have on the game Patrick: virtually nothing.

use to play wow alot payin for it, got bored and not so happy to pay. moved to a private server and now i dont even play free. so this i dont care for, but im lookin forward to Champions Online and i always wanted to play Warhammer since i like so much DOW games

So far the expansions have added new continents but left most of the main game intact (with the exception of a few quest lines, the Human King is no longer missing for example).
Goblins have always been neutral and have major cities where both Alliance and Horde can quest in and trade with each other in the Auction House (at a higher fee).
Goblins choosing a single side would mean major cities will now be aggressive to the Alliance characters, closing off entire story segments and giving the Horde the upper hand.
Then again it Is called Cataclysm. Who knows, maybe Blizzard is planning on nuking their entire multi-billion dollar cash cow... that s very likely, right? 10+million subscribers must be bored with WoW so they need to change it?
Somehow I doubt it.
As for the Worgen, I m intrigued. Not much is known about these werewolf like creatures other than they come from another dimension and only seek to destroy, but my guess is that their other dimension might slam into this one (hence the expansion title) and we will see an uncorrupted version of the Wargen (similar to the Dreani being uncorrupted demons).
Until Blizzard announces anything, I am not holding my breath.
Personally I am hoping for more Hero Classes (Death Knight is the only one).

Personally I want them to release the Pandarans (don't know if that's the correct name for them) from Warcraft 3 as a race.

Well...from my understand of WoW lore, Worgens actually come from another dimension, brought to Azeroth by a Night Elf Druid. Part of their journey took them through the Emerald Dream. This journey effected some, driving them into the state many who play the game have seen. For others of the Worgen persuasion, they made it through the Emerald Dream unscathed, retaining their sanity. Those are the ones allied with the Night Elves, and thus the alliance.
...or at least that's what I've read and been told.

The last thing I saw didn't mention new races for Horde or Alliance, they hinted at 5 new Neutral Races. Goblins were on the incomplete list, as was hinted Arakkoa and Pandarens.

You will noticed that with WotLK, the Death Knight was the "first hero class". I'm ready for a "second hero class". I just hope it's not the bard http://www.worldofwarcraft.com /wrath/features/bard/bardclass .xml. I'm hoping for a healing pandaren.

@ Bigghammer UMM have you noticed you can play undead and there are still undead enemys? Same with troll and just about every race. its perfectly reasonable that a faction of worgan went rogue and joined the alliance

Patrick, save your time and your money. There are better farming games... er, I mean... no wait, that's right. There are better farming games out there than WoW if you want to play them. But with Aion, Champions Online, and Borderlands coming out this year and looking so promising, I'd hold out for those if you're looking for good Multiplayer Online RPG experiences. Or if you can't wait, then play Warhammer Online, since Blizzard is stealing all their 'new' ideas from them anyway: including exp gains during PvP, siege weapons/vehicles, and GOBLINS AS A PLAYABLE RACE!
I use to be addicted to WoW... which is fun until you hit the level cap, then it turns into work. A game isn't a game if you spend more time working at it than anything else. Skip it.
Besides, these new races are lame. Pandaren would have been better, but what they really need are new skins for Moonkin: most fun-to-play animal/form/spec/playable race ever, ever.

perhaps wolvar is what they mean,after leveling a ton of characters in wow fighting the worgen,what are they gonna say to worgen characters on those quests? civil war between worgen?seems pretty ridiculous to me-wonder what x-play would say?

this rumor was started because blizzard made new masks for the hallows end event and the goblin and worgen ones were the first found, but there just 2 of like 6 new sets of masks including murlocs and ogres.
besides that, worgens wouldn't go to the ally and goblins are to greedy to ally with anyone because they do what gets them most money
