If there is one thing that I adore more than countdown clocks, it’s announcements of announcements. Well, you can imagine how I felt when I heard that Square Enix head Yoichi Wada recently announced that there will be a release date announcement regarding the highly anticipated RPG Final Fantasy XIII in a “few weeks.”
Unless my calendar doth deceive me, that would put the announcement right around the time of this year’s Tokyo Game Show. Of course, the release date will most likely be for the Japanese version of the game (PlayStation 3 only at this point),which has been long trapped in Winter 2009 status, but I guess it's better than nothing. Perhaps Square Enix will reveal an overseas date for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions as well, but don’t hold your breath.
Personally, I’m betting on seeing a PS3 Slim/FFXIII duel mega-announcement from Sony at TGS. Then again, given Sony’s history will these kinds of tradeshow announcements, full PS3 Slim info will leak a few weeks early, and then Square Enix will reveal that FXIII has been pushed to early 2010. I sincerely hope this doesn’t happen, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if it did.

Honestly, do you all really care still?
There hasn't been a memorable final fantasy since 7. They're all the damn same now. A feather haired hero, a gay ass royal story line, a cute chick in short shorts. Lets see thats...8! no 9! no 11! oh wait, 11x2!!
Final Fantasy is beginning to be a JOKE. Where are the Dark Knights and Dragoons.
New Final's are this - Start, gay royal story, one big city, some travel, another big city, some travel and some boss, great video, boring as HELL gameplay (remember ff12?)
Final Fantasy 13? Give me Xenogears or a new Legend of Dragoon, ANY DAY.

why are they makeing so many final fantasy games at the same time it would be a lot quicker if they just chose one and stuck with it and make the other ones after i mean whose going to beable afford all thoses final fantasy games at one time anyway

The delay is nothing new at this point in the game.. I'm not mad that its coming to 360 or anything, it's the fact the the game was practically done.. Then out of now where here comes an announcement that its coming to the box(which is one of the main causes of the delay but truth be told, it was a business move by M$).. so because of the development, JP players will get it this year and US players will have to wait 1 more year instead getting it this year as well.. but it might not be a bad thing seeing from this years E3 that the announcement of Final Fantasy XIV Online is also due as well.. so which means US players will be playing XIII & XIV in the same year 0o So there's a rare moment for you lol So with that being the case you can expect XII in the Spring and XIV late Winter.. so next year is gonna be a good year for gaming it seems =)

I dont really mind them making the 360 version as much as i use to but I do respect their simultaneous release cuz they actually care about it rather than other companies who want to be d-bags and relaese a game 4 360 first and hav ps3 owners wait like weeks 4 it to come out. Im looking at u capcom

I really don't see why it has to come out for the 360 at all. THAT IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE DELAY. It's only even coming out for the 360 in America anyways.

Square Enix doesn't plan to announce a releaste date for FFXIII. Instead, they are announcing that FFXXX & 1/2 will be exclusive to the Motorola Razor.

Personally, I don't give a damn. The later the better. Why? I've have a lot of games in the mean time I need to play and get out of the way.
1.) Halo 3 ODST
2.) Ultimate Alliance 2
3.) Dirt 2
4.) Assassins Creed 2
5.) Mass Effect 2
6.) Fallout 3 GOTY Edition. Yes, I am a cheap bastard and refused to pay $10 per DLC. Decided to wait.
So, until all of those games are finished I won't be touching FFXIII. Oh, and if Splinter Cell 5 comes out about the same time...Splinter Cell is first.

Love how the game was delayed in the states just because they wanted to release it for the PS3 and the 360 simultaneously. Just drop it for the PS3 and if the 360 version EVER comes out, who will even care?

I hope they announce that Final Fantasy XIII comes with a free copy of Kingdom Hearts 3 and a coupon for a free copy of Versus XIII for the PS3 OR xbox 360 (thats right fanboys, I went there).

I don't care about Final Fantasy XIII... I hope they will show something about Final Fantasy Versus XIII reason:
1) Its based on William Shakespeare book
2) The darkest Final Fantasy game yet
3) Nomura has stated that he wants the characters to be "believable" and thus realistic.
4) Nomura wants to make that character (Noctis) popelar as Cloud or make something popular and great like Final Fantasy 7
5) graphic violence with an instance of blood
6) This game makes Square Enix fathers and Kingdom Hearts Team
And this is the Reason (and Metal Gear Solid 4) why i bought Playstation 3 and i am waiting for this since 2006 year!

At least they aren't announcing that there will be an announcment for an announcment clock counting down to an announcment where they will announce FF14 before they release 13 and announce another count down clock to the announcment for the anticapated since first announcment final release date announcment.
