brutal legend

Gamers rejoice! Activision and Double Fine have reached a settlement on the former's law suit and latter's counter-suit over Brutal Legend. Instead of a potentially ugly and prolonged legal battle, the path to Brutal Legend's October release is clear. According to The New York Times:

"Los Angeles Superior Court spokeswoman Vania Stuelp said attorneys for Activision notified the court of the settlement agreement with Double Fine. Attorneys for the companies did not immediately return calls seeking comment on Thursday."

This is the best gaming news I've heard all week! Although a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge claimed that the suit wouldn't interfere with Brutal Legend's release, I had my doubts. Now that the matter is settled, there's no stopping the game. I'm totally jazzed.

How do you feel about the news? Do you think the suit was settled by Double Fine arranging for Brutal Legend's Rob Halford to give Activision's Bobby Kotick 50 lashes with a cat o' nine tails?

I am amped about the suit getting settled. Like Mr. Raymond, I was afraid it would push the release date back like what's happened to so many games recently. I think it had something to do with Hellraiser like chain torture by Ozzy. Or disembowelment by 1 of Lita Ford's beasts.

I want to know more about what transpired. Theres not enough information and if Double Fine paid Activision, that was a stupid move.

I don't like Activision. The CEO just cares about money(as if they weren't making enough already) he can go to hell. But Double Fine is stupid in what they did though.

Not sure about the 'cat o' nine tails' part. I would expect something more elaborate, like water torture, but that's just me.
