I spent an hour or so playing A Boy And His Blob for the Wii for this preview, and word that springs to mind is "adorable." This is the kind of game the Wii was designed for.
A reboot of the 1989 NES game with the same name, Blob tells the story of a young boy who helps a white outer-space schmoo travel to his home planet. You do this by feeding the Blob jelly-beans that transform him into different useful object, so if you need to travel up to a high platform, drop a yellow bean, and Blob will transform into a ladder, or a hole in the floor, or a bowling ball, or a rocket, or a bowling ball, etc. etc. The titular Boy is all but helpless without his friend, and the Blob has no direction without the boy's help -- so the two rely on each other to overcome obstacles and fight enemies.

I remember seeing this in Nintendo Power a few months back and nearly cried for joy right there in the store. I loved the original and I can't wait for this game. I really hope Nintendo doesn't mess up the controls. It would be great if the game could be played with the classic controller, or by turning the wii remote on it's side to emulate the NES controller.
Regardless it will be nice to finally want a game for my Wii. Wonder if it'll be as hard as the original?

Side note, Stephen Johnston's beard is well groomed and deserves a bowl of fudge; as does every good boy.

The blob can transform into a bowling ball, or a hole in the floor, or a bowling ball, or (and this one is VERY interesting) a bowling ball.
Seriously, does the G4 staff proof-read their posts? Cause if this post is any indication it doesn't appear that they do.

The new one looks neat--I got frustrated playing the 1989 version. If you've never played it, you might be interested in watching the speedrun (0:11:30): http://speeddemosarchive.com/A BoyAndHisBlob.html
