Video Game Gambling Site Launching

Bring It

A new website is set to launch that will make it possible for gamers to wager on the outcomes of online matches. This can only lead to trouble. Bringit.com is going into Beta phase this week, and supports PlayStation 2, the PS3, the Xbox 360 and the Wii, and works like this: Players challenge each other on the site, but play on their consoles. The site keeps track of who won and rewards money accordingly, minus a service fee.

The service is apparently legal in 39 States, mainly because video games are games of skill, not chance. You won't be able to play in Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, Tennessee and Vermont. Sorry.

I could see this service drawing negative attention really quickly: The first kid who loses thousands of dollars of his parents' money with a purloined credit car will cause massive attention... and probably not the positive kind, either.

Now, if Bring It was offering wagers on either trivia games, Uno, or Mario Kart I would be all over that... but as far as putting actual money on my gaming skills in other areas, I'm not down. I would be broke in a day. What about you? Would you bet on your gaming talent? If so, how much?

I'd bet money on a live video feed of a high-score competition on Trauma Center: New Blood, solo, on Hard mode. I'm somewhere in the top 60 worldwide for one operation. In other words, bring it.

This kind of thing has been going on for a while over at http://www.gamersaloon.com/ I put some money down for a one on one cage match on COD4. I got pwned- hard. These guys are serious. Don't even think about it unless you feel you're an elite player.

What if a limit were put on your account per day, like $20. If you win more, you can still bet more than $20 if you have it, but this makes it so people with gambling addiction can't get into more trouble.

This will never happen. These "Service Fee" sites are actually Illegal because they are Gambling fronts.

I can see TRUE gambling one day done on Fighting & Sport Games like SF4 & Maddden National/Global Offline tournanments. Or even on some Offline MLG tournaments.

A site that allows me to foster my addiction for both video gaming and gambling? Sign me up! Oh, wait. I live in Florida.

Damn. Oh well, at least we still have plenty of drugs and prostitutes.

    1. The Tennessee Lotto kicks arse (cmon 138 mil!!)
    2. Lag will become the biggest factor in this. I own kids (literally I own children) at gears and would love to wager on that....if I was host. Me vs some Euro's for money = no thx. Me w host vs any chumps sure thing. Get dome scoped.

If you're under 21 you won't be able to participate. That will solve the kids abusing the credit card problem.

And how are they going to verify who's actually playing the match? And can I bet on my opponent and dump the game?

In my day, you just threw your money on the arcade machine, I'd match it, you'd get sho-ryukened into oblivion, and I'd walk out twice as rich.

I bought alot of CD's and tapes that way.

There is a sight that does MMORPG GUILD vs GUILD fight for money and 1vs1 pvp for money. You buy weapons, armor, spells with real money. The winner will than automatically take everything that the oppenent have during that fight, including armor. Hey can sell it back to merchant for rl cash of whats it worth. Its very popular in the asia world. Each armor, weapons ...etc cost 1,000 rl $ to get... So you gotta have money to even roll the dice.

Im game, there are already a few sites like this out there. This one might be a little more well put together though. Good thing about this is at least I'll play kids of age since you have to be old enough to gamble.

I agree with GreyFac3. this is gonna turn out bad. you know there is gonna be some 11 year old who is gonna just go insane thinking he can win and just blow all of the parents money. then the parents will sue the website, since obviously it is not their fault they cannot control their own kid. sigh
