It’s been known for some time now that those gamers (non-PC gamers that is) who purchase the Hardened or Prestige editions of Infinity Ward’s über-anticipated Modern Warfare 2 will also receive a download code for Call of Duty: Classic (the entire original game plus full multiplayer support).
However, the latest news, according to IGN, is that everyone will be able to enjoy the mother of Activision’s high-intensity, cinematic war franchise via Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network, sometime soon. Activision hasn’t announced an official release date, or the game’s price yet, but the game is coming, and it will be the full COD that fans love and remember.
For anyone planning on buying the standard edition of MW2, I hope for your sake that there are at least a few cool things in the game to keep you occupied while you wait for COD to become available for download. It will be a difficult time, I know, but stay strong, and you’ll make it through.
Can anyone honestly see themselves turning off Modern Warfare 2 to play Call of Duty: Classic? What would you be willing to spend for the original COD?

As long as the controls are as silky smooth as I remember them, I'll definitely be signing up. I hope it releases soon. I never got a chance to play the multiplayer side of CoD1, so this is a dream come true. I just hope they release it a little bit before Modern Warfare 2 comes out.

Orginal COD and COD2 are in top 10 games of all time. Very good FPS back in the day. It's a shame to play them on a console though.

Well there smart to make COD1 a Arcade game and not a Xbox original game, that way you can grab some achievements for it and talk to your friends while you play unlike the original games up there, i think thats some corner cutting on microsofts part, 15 bucks for alot of games you can get cheaper in stores or online, and what do you get for? less hard drive space.

I hope modernwarfare 2 has as much DLC as WAW modern warfare 1 only had 1 map pack which really botherd me but yet WAW already has 3! I dont mind 10$ for a few new maps (4 perferibly) as long as they keep commin, I dont think i will get this i started with COD 2 and thats early enough for me, its a possibility though

To be honest I hate these late call of duty fans who only played cod4. They keep saying i'm tired of ww2 games when they really haven't played that many to complain about. The fact is there are so many ww2 games because it refined what we thought war was about, it was a truly great era where technology accelerated at an alarming rate, thats why people make ww2 games. To remember what it must of been like back then, without uavs, flashbangs, helicopters , and close air support. If you wanted to kill someone it was up to you and you alone. BTW brush up on it using the internet and military channel and may be they will even understand.
P.S. infinity ward started with ww2 games, if it weren't for them there wouldn't be a modern warfare2.

I remember playing the original COD on PC back when it was brand-spankin new. As of that moment it pretty much replaced any other WWII game for me. Something about that first mission when you drop the beacon in advance of the Airborne, then see countless planes going overhead, and even more Airborne troopers dropping into the open field. Oh, and the fact that it was the first game to really put a focus on different perspectives and playing through different soldiers from the various powers.
Yup, playing through the original COD will be a good romp through memory lane.

Just because WaW isn't set in the modern times doesn't mean it wasn't a great FPS. I play it and I plan on buying Map Pack 3.

1200 to 1600 would be resonable. But yeah playing a new Modern warfare game and going back to the start of the greatest FPS series of all time will be very wierd.

wow sucks bad and i well um broke my cod4 game so i did not have it 4 a while but i just got it back and am about to play it rite now any way i dont think that cod1 will b more than ten bucks but i will never set my reg set of mw2 down so i dont give a crap and until im done with mw2 100% i will not spend a dime on an arcade game that is the same as bf1943 point is mw2 hardened is not worth 20 more dollars but prestige is worth 40 extra cuz of nvgs and hey a og is not bad as a deal sweetner

Side note. The map packs for CoD World at War are too much money!!! They should be $5 at the most. And now I hear that they're coming out with a third map pack. They are ruining the multi-player game for those of us that know that $10 is a rip-off for three maps. Especially when you can get Battlefield 1943, an entire game for $15. C'mon Activision, Treyarch you know those map packs should be $5 or even free after a while.

i can play the og cod cd on my 360 anyhow lol

Call of Duty, the original on the PC was my first FPS, and I loved it. Hopefully they won't screw it up.

CoD4 > 1943 > CoD:classic > Halo ... no one likes Halo anymore.. completely overrated in my opinion
