Developer id Software has quickly jumped on the recent console wars flame up that company head John Carmack sparked after telling Edge that the PlayStation 3 version of id’s upcoming post-apocalyptic title Rage currently runs at “just 20-30 [frames-per-second]” whereas the Xbox 360 version runs at 60 FPS.
In response, id said, via its Rage-dedicated Twitter account, “We are committed to ensuring that gamers on all platforms have a great Rage experience.”
An official response from id on this whole mess was obviously expected, however, it’s a bit surprising that the company had to even make it in the first place, considering in the same offending interview with Edge, Carmack said, “We expect [Rage] to be 60 hertz on every supported platform. The work remaining is getting it locked so there's never a dropped frame or a tear, but we're confident that we're going to get that."
Did the PS3 users who raised all this “ruckus” reach for the pitchforks and torches a bit hastily on this one?
