It looks like Capcom is poised to have a hit on Wii. Alongside a delay for Dark Void, the company announced it will be shipping more than one million copies of Monster Hunter Tri, designed from the ground up for Nintendo's platform, for its August 1st launch in Japan. Capcom says this will be the first third-party Wii release to hit this milestone.
It's not all bright news for the series, though. While the PSP releases continue to sell well in Japan, the recent attempt to popularize Monster Hunter in the US with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, didn't catch on. The game "performed weakly," said Capcom.
Did you pick up Monster Hunter Freedom Unite? I tried a few hours in co-op and easily saw the appeal, but the massive learning curve prevented me from going back.

The one thing that every one needs to reamember hear is that MH1 on the ps2 did not sell well. Thats why they have not brought a big game to the us. It wouldn't pay them to spend all the money to bring it over hear. I loved the first one and was livid when they killed the servers. Than I had to go buy a PSP just to play the game. I am glad they are bringing it out in the US. and any fan should be glad they are even trying it out again, no matter what system its for. Heck I would go out and buy a wii just for Tri if I didn't already have one.

Man, I had never played a Monster Hunter game until I bought Unite for my PSP and I am loving it. The learning curve is not that bad. If you are any familiar with playing an RPG, then you won't have a problem playing this game. It is good having a game that I won't beat quickly and then never play it again! Now, here is my question...is Tri coming to the US? I would love to play this on my Wii, or like M0DSquad said, bring to the 360 or PS3 (especially the 360, since I have that too).

Why isnt this game on the PS3 or the Xbox 360 with Trophies/Achievements?
Im dead serious, this game will consume ALL my time if it only came onto the monster consoles.
Also if they did, multiplayer servers are an absolute must

I've always felt the learning curve was not that high, provided you had a friend who was familiar enough with the game to teach you the minimal basics. Most of the tutorials are generally unnecessary and they've always been over-complicatedly worded.(verbosity!) The pay off at high levels of play is nice, but its not necessary for basic ad-hoc play.

Like it? I love it!

I played Monster Hunter on PS2 all the way up until the shut down the servers. Since then, all MH titles in the US have been on the PSP, which never generates high sales with wi-fi games in the US. Put it on a console and it will sell. Although I wish they would have left it on the PS3.........

Its a great game, just capcom's system choice is kinda screwed. I'm not bagging on any systems at all, but when it comes to games like Monster Hunter, it was VERY fun on a console that a ton of people had, with FREE multiplayer. The psp has multiplayer, but from what i hear, its only when people are near. With MH3 coming to the wii, and this game being a very hard game to master, a lot of hardcore gamers, do not have the wii because it is mostly just casual games.
Now, i do believe that MH3 is going to have a monthly fee? Not good when it comes to sales in my opinion.
Great game though, ive always been a fan of it, just, my opinion, bad choices on console/multiplayer.

Imagine what they could do if they put this on PS3, or even the 360.
So much more could be achieved with the series.
