Hollywood is looking at picking up yet another video game for a film treatment. inFamous, released only just this past May for PlayStation 3, is the latest. The Hollywood Reporter reports Sony Pictures has picked up a pitch from screenwriter Sheldon Turner, who also wrote the The Longest Yard remake.
Hollywood producers Avi Arad and Ari Arad, also working on potential Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Mass Effect films, have been tapped to produce.
"What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc," said Turner to The Hollywood Reporter about his approach. "It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is."
inFamous is a long, long ways away from becoming a movie, but like so many others, someone is trying to make it happen. Do you think it's a good idea?

While it had really fun gameplay, the story was convoluted and had a ton of plot holes and characters whose stories went nowhere, not to mention the crazy plot twist at the end that made you go like "woah."
It was a great game but I can't see it becoming a movie.

I know there is more too. I dont want them to ruin the games with the movies, such as other video game movies have.

Actually Patrick Klepek, that was a Sony's strategy from the beggining of the Playstation 3. Most of their 1st party games they want to make from them movies because Sony is really serious about Playstation 3 to be a Media Center.
Thats their vision.

This is a wonderful idea, this game is really deep. I surely would go watch this. A movie similar style to spiderman or the HULK.

I like how they seem to be picking more and more games that would ACTUALLY MAKE GOOD MOVIES. Things like Mario and Mortal Kombat just don't work. But just looking at a game like Uncharted or inFAMOUS you can say, "Holy hell, it's like playing a freaking movie!"

This seem it would be a good movie, the story is decent and could be play out in a few ways, however i think the should have a good and bad ending, In which different theater would have a different ending or something to that nature. just a thought.

AHH! I would watch this until my eyes bled, but I want to know HOW anyone plans to make this enormous game a two-hour movie. It just seems like quite a jump. And I would want to be able to follow the action. Let's say, maybe, back away from the characters? They had better have new powers.

Enough! We dont need a movie for every videogame. All of the videogame movies thus far have sucked and this wouldn't be any different. Anyway, I just picked this game up last week and its alot of fun.
