Red Faction: Guerrilla Shipped One Million Copies, Sequel Discussed

THQ and Volition's gamble on an open-world action game set on Mars looks to have been a success, as THQ announced during its first quarter earnings call that Red Faction: Guerrilla has shipped more than a million copies and it's happy with the game's sales.

CEO Brian Farrell did criticize the company's decision to move the game's release date around several times, however, which hurt the game's launch buzz. For the "next iteration," promised Farrell, THQ needed to make the game's launch a bigger deal.

It's a little early to be talking specifics about what the companies may be planning for a sequel to Red Faction: Guerrilla, but if you were worried the game's sales weren't enough to justify a sequel, worry no more. It looks like a sequel is coming.

kinda funny know that barely anyone plays the multiplayer anymore
a shame that such a good Multiplayer goes un-noticed now

To people who said that the enviroment sucked. I would have to disagree I thought they did an awesome job of making it a believable mars, I felt like I was driving on mars surface with the 1/3 gravity and red dust and the small sun in the distance. I think for the next one maybe they should have the mars surface evolved to having some lakes and rain and plants you would see one earth that are slightly different due to the change in enviroment and conditions.

    Also cities and taller buildings.

But I gotta say this is one of the best games I have played on the 360. unlike other games I still play the game even after beating the story.

If they do decide to make a sequel, i'd like to see it to were ur able to destroy the landscape, like have a weapon thats a drill, and u can drill into the ground for "stealth" attacks and other missions, and also more strategic tactics in multiplayer. I'd also want better, more stable vehicles, like the bigger wheeled vehicles aren't so bouncy. and possibly add some air bases and some aircraft vehicles, if they did this to Red Faction: Guerilla 2, then i'd buy 2 copies, 1 for me, and 1 for me

Loved the game, wish they would have included co-op though. One of the reasons I loved the first Red Faction so much was because I could load it up with a friend and some AI bots and just have fun running around and blowing everything and everyone up. The more game developers move away from Goldeneye style of gameplay the more I think they are missing the mark on what actually makes a game fun and worth playing again and again and again.

Im voting for Red Faction Guerilla as best action game! because it is, RF:G is the only game I've played outa the Red Faction series but the other red factions might just make me dust off my ps2 and play it.

I've been waiting to play this game since Red Faction 1, i loved RF:G! it was awesome..the only thing i miss was that you can't destroy the ground....and there wasn't a "nuke" type gun...but this game was fun, the online was iffy but still fun. The Story....needs to be longer. and more guns...and the environment kind of sucked.....

It really was a good game, the only dissapointment for me was the dull environment. It would make the game alot better if they moved the location to somewhere with more colour like the people from assasin's creed 2 are doing when they are moving it to italy. A city like the last guy said. I remember playing those old xbox spiderman games i think it was the second one where your allowed to explore the city, i always thought to myself how awesome it would be if somone made a game where you could interact and destroy with everything in the landscape (not that i would do that in real life). The makers of red faction did this but in the wrong environment. Hopefully they will make a better decision this time around!

This is good new I loved the game. But I agree with that guy who said that they did a bad job promoting the game, I had no idea it existed until I tried the demo and realized it was a cool game.

I think with the buzz of this game a second red faction would sell very well.

If anyone at THQ is reading this here is some ideas for the next installment:

    1. Taller buildings, and maybe a small city area kinda like the 4 three story buildings in Eos, like a building comercial center on mars that has a bunch of big buildings. And maybe inside these buildings be a little bigger and more interesting.

    2. Planes It would be cool to get into a plane and blow stuff up.

    3. More use to the mech machines.

    4. More cut scenes.

    5. And maybe a little more blood and gore like people blowing up into pieces, or smashing someones face in with a sledge hammer. Or someone getting cut in half and their guts are everywhere.

I had never even heard of this game before,a friend who is not a gamer at all mentioned this game to me,(I still have no clue on how he heard about the game,)but I traded every game I had for this game, just hoping that it would be good. This game blew-my-mind.We traded off every time one of us died.
I seriously haven't had this much fun in a long time. This game beats Grand Theft Auto to death, and I love the fact that you can drive through the canyons and over mountains, and literally carve your own path,
(Offroad Interceptor Extreme, anybody)the crystals to destroy were a nice added bonus to want to look around, and the jet pack was an "O My God Moment" for me.I love this game, and plan on buying Evey future installment.
I can even let my kids play this and they just drive around for hours, and I never have to worry about it effecting my game status.....rock on....

This is my top pick of 09 so far this year. I like the idea of a sequel but lets hope that they don't just throw a few cheap DLC packs out to the players, I can't wait for them to come out and let me unlock more of mars! Congrats THQ and Volition!!!!

On another note, I do agree with the longer storyline, It was a good effort but not as grand as the game deserved.
