It’s been just over two weeks since news came out that Square Enix’s RPG Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS had managed to sell 2.3 million copies in its first two days on store shelves in Japan. A lot of developers would be happy to see those kinds of numbers over two years of a game’s lifecycle, and yet the game has continued to bring in the green stuff, with the latest sales numbers coming in at just over 3.2 million copies.
The figures appeared over at AndriaSang (via Famitsu), and includes the period between July 11 and July 26. Based on these factors, the game has become the fastest selling DS game ever, and it’s expected to hold its number one position for the third straight week.
Are you surprised by how well Dragon Quest IX has sold so far? How many units do you think it could possibly sell?
