The first 3-D movie I saw was just recently, Pixar's Up. The glasses took some getting used to, but the effects were pretty spectacular. In this special Comic-Con edition of The Loop, Attack of the Show's Kevin Pereira is joined by Pete Kozachik, (Director of Photography, Coraline) and Michael Uslan (Executive Producer, The Dark Knight), for a discussion on the future of 3-D movies at the theaters and in our homes. We wanted to do this interview in 3-D to reinforce the point, but we spent most of our Comic-Con budget on train tickets, a 33.6K external modem, and what we were told were magical beans.

i most say that i saw up wit my godkids and there was not 3-D within the movie. The previews had 3-D effect so i was very disapointed.

I don't see it happening, really. Sure it's great for thrill movies, but at the heart of any drama is story, character, and growth.. adding the third dimension doesn't add to any of these whatsoever... which is why 3D will last only until people grow bored if it and find something newer and flashier. Drama will remain eternal, things like 3D will come and go.

Wait, we are talking about the same 3-D that movies had back in the 80's that was often ridiculed for being nothing but a gimmick right?

With monitors getting better all the time (240hz and higher def) semi 3d will be automatic and no need for glasses.

Good interview, thanks.

3-D is "ok" sometimes, but does get annoying at times.. but my biggest complaint is the extra cost to see a 3-D movie. Adding $3 to a ticket adds up fast when taking the family to the movies.

Damn that guy with the beans gets me everytime...
As far as all movies becoming 3-D, i don't see it. Action movies such as "Transformers" i culd see being 3-D, but movies like "The Ugly Truth" would just be pointless to have in 3-D. I'd like to see the movies like "Transformers" and "Iron Man" and "The Dark Knight" to be fully 3-D. Mainly for the action scenes but during the "normal" scenes it would make you feel more into the actual story, and when the action hits, your blown away.
