Did EA Scrap Plans To Release Mirror's Edge For The Wii, DS And PSP?

According to the folks over at Unseen64, EA seriously considered bringing DICE’s first-person platformer Mirror’s Edge to the Nintendo Wii, DS and Sony’s PSP, but ultimately decided to release the game only on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Monster Lab and Rock Band: Unplugged developer Backbone Entertainment was also apparently assigned to create a demo for the Wii version, which obviously never materialized into an actual game. However, two supposed pieces of concept art for the Wii demo have surfaced, both of which depict the game's parkour-loving main character Faith in the same kind of animated style found in the game’s cut-scenes.

Whether these projects were in fact planned, or whether EA has any plans to bring the series to the Wii, DS and PSP in the future, is still unknown; but I’m currently waiting to hear back from EA and Backbone about all of this, so I’ll let you know when I hear something.

I think it definitely would have done well on all of those three.

I dunno about a wii version...could be cool depending on how the motion controls would be used.....but surprisingly enough I see a lot of potential for a DS version....

I picked this up a couple weeks ago finally and I'm on level 7. I really enjoy the game but for as much emphasis as they put on evading combat, there are several parts that all but require you to lay down some fire in order to get through the jumps without being riddled full of holes. The ship level springs immediately to mind.

Any word on a sequel? I don't know if it sold well enough to warrant the might EA greenlight.

I haven't had the chance to play this game but i just wanted to point out that the bottom picture looks like it's out of those e-surance commercials.

I think Mirror's Edge would do well on these other systems. Personally, I thought that the game had a great concept, but a lousy execution, sub-par graphics, convoluted story, and horrendous gameplay issues.

Other than that, the game was awesome!
