First Band Hero Tracks Revealed

I still don't really know why Activision is releasing both Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero this year. The former is targeting the hardcore, the latter acting as a carrot for the mainstream. Is that necessary? Anyway, the games will have separate track lists and the first few have been revealed over at MSN, which debuted the first trailer for Band Hero.

The confirmed tracks:

  • Taylor Swift -- "Picture To Burn"
  • No Doubt -- "Just A Girl"
  • Lily Allen -- "Take What You Take"
  • The All-American Rejects -- "Dirty Little Secret"
  • Jackson 5 -- "ABC"

Yet another game with a Michael Jackson-related track. That's the second one today!

The Guitar Hero franchise is dead to me after I got Rock Band 2. I just download the songs I want for it. I have GH:WT as well and have revisited a few times, but there really is no point. They don't release anywhere near the quantity or quality of the songs of RB. Activision is just greedy and wants us to keep buying $60 games and hopefully spend more $$$ on more instruments.

I also find the GH games buggier. Get this.,,, I actually play with the GH:WT guitar, and it sometimes plays extra notes for me (without me even strumming in GH:WT) screwing up my perfects??? (Same issue in the rentals of Metallica and Aerosmith). Must be that new interface. Yet, the same guitar plays perfectly in RB2.

(Granted if they come out with Guitar Hero: Led Zeppelin.... I'll plunk down $500 for that ;-)

    aww yea Taylor Swift!!!

but seriously well not but anyways, was really grinds my gears is the exclusivity of certain bands/songs. i these economic times why do these developers continually screw the consumers over?

i've played both RB and GH, i prefer GH so that's the one i bought, but RB hs monopolies on certains songs so i'm screwed...and vice verse for someone who has RB.

    exclusivity...business wins consumer loses.

I wonder if they'll let you practice in band camp. Why, I remember a day not so long ago, we were at band camp, and....

That was back when Jackson was a young black kid and not an old dead white rich woman. Good song actually, much respect.

C'mon no more band games for awhile please... I'd love if they would just release 1 GH 1 RB every 2 years then maybe i'd buy one of them, or make a game called stand-up hero where you perform the routines of George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Sam Kinison, Brian Posehn, Patton Oswalt, Dave Chappelle, Lewis BLack and many more... And then when Natal come out you can perform Abbot & Costello , I'd buy that game!

Again, I am starting to get "rocked out" by all these games. For the sake of all things bright and beautiful why won't they cover the lesser (or never) done genres of RnB, Funk, Jazz, and Fusion?

I guess when sales finally are not there they will get it. Till then they will milk it dry.

I play Rock Band and Guitar Hero almost religiously, and this is the first I've ever heard of Band Hero.

It's just Activision and Neversoft running another franchise into the ground, just like they did with Tony Hawk.

SpunkyMcNuggets: That was my exact thought. I've never even heard of this game, how is it different from GH World Tour?

Was Guitar Hero World Tour not enough? I mean Guitar Hero 5 has a band mode already, why the need for two separate titles?

    I hate Activision!
They are the top scourges of the game development world,
like Lil Wayne is to rap music.
Unless you got these games for free, you got 5hitted on badly.

All these music games are quickly featuring more and more of the same music (No Doubt and All-American Rejects, plus a bunch of GH5 songs, are already available for Rock Band). This means the games will be solely judged by their features and interface and, uh, Guitar Hero (and especially a younger-focused Band Hero)...you lose.
