Visceral Games’ hellish action title Dante’s Inferno promises to deliver a truly horrific adventure by throwing players into one of the most terrifying settings in all of literature. But the developers don’t want the experience to stop there. In addition to the game, there is also the animated project under development by Film Roman and Production I.G., and now it’s been announced that EA and DC Comics are teaming up for a comic book mini-series as well.
The comic will make its debut at this week’s Comic-Con 2009, where an “Issue 0” preview edition will be handed out at the EA and DC Comics booths. The world premier trailer for the new animated Inferno project will be shown too during a panel discussion with members of the various development teams (the game, comic book and animated feature). As for the rest of the six-part comic book series, it is expected to go on sale starting in December, and will be illustrated by Diego Latorre and written by Chistos Gage. Plus, if you find yourself at the show, you’ll be able to get some hands-on time with the game. Boy, are you spoiled or what?
Do you think Dante’s Inferno has enough character and style to protect it from the obvious God of War and Ninja Gaiden comparisons? Is it such a bad thing that the game appears to have drawn so heavily from other blockbuster hack-n-slash action games? Anyone going to be at Comic-Con to check out all that Dante’s Inferno goodness?
Also, if you're going to be at the show, be sure to stop by the G4 booth and I promise someone there will give you a great big G4-sized hug (Warning: Not a real promise.) If you can't make it to the show, then be sure to tune into G4's Comic-Con 2009 coverage later in the week to find out everything you could possibly want to know about the show.

Dead Space was obviously a rip off of...how many games...RE4, Gears, hint of System Shock...
And it work flawlessly (but wasn't scary). I'm sure Dante's Inferno will do just fine.

If I could actually go I would expect a G4 hug...

Let's hope the comics turn out well. If they do, and I can actually find a comic store in Salem, I might give them a try.

I really wonder how much comics it will actually sell. I know there is a market for it, but I'd rather be reading Blackest Night than for a game we haven't really seen any game play from. People get hyped a little too easily.

There will definitely be comparisons to God of War but that's OK because Dante's Inferno has my interest. I'm looking forward to learning more about this game.
