Third-party peripheral maker Mad Catz is going to be at Comic-Con in San Diego this week, and to celebrate, the company is selling special, Comic-Con only, Street Fighter IV controllers. The Limited Edition and Street Fighter IV Fight Pad will be available exclusively for purchase at the official Capcom booth at Comic-Con.
The Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition will be limited to 250 units for the 360 and 250 units for the PS 3. Each unit is sequentially numbered. The Fight Pad will be limited to 500 sequentially numbered units for each system, so don't sleep on either controller or you'll be left empty-handed.
Mad Catz said they worked very closely with Capcom in order to come up with a fan-pleasing design for the controller. Rather than focus on a group of characters, these controllers are all about Sagat, that be-scarred fighter that gamers all gravitate towards. But not in a cheesy way -- the sticks are stylish! The Tournament Edition FightSticks will cost $179.99 for each system, and the Fight Pads will sell for $49.99.

Do you have a "special" controller for fighting games? And how much difference do you think it makes to your performance? Personally, I always use a regular controller. That way, when I get destroyed, I can say, "Well, that guy probably has a 'real' controller. No wonder he beat me." I have very fragile self-esteem.
What do you think of the prices of these sticks? Worth it?

When I saw this, i got super excited, and then I thought, I dont need to spend another 180 bucks on a fight stick, I already have 2!

I saw these and actually got to look at these in person at EVO. The pictures don't do it justice. The White plastic looks just super sleek.
But in the grand scheme of things, I have mine customized a lot already so this is pretty much just a "meh" from me.

I use my Sega Saturn USB joypad to play SF4. Surprisingly, it works.

the old fight stick looks better.

I don't like how they have the R1/R2 (or RT/RB on Xbox) set up on the fightpad. It should be LB/1 and RB/1 where the R1/R2 buttons are, and the triggers should be L2/T and R2/T, respectively.
Also, what's with the home button instead of a PS button?

I think it all comes to how skilled you are in the game and which controller you do best with. If you do better with a fight pad, then use a fight pad. If you do better with a fight stick, then use a fight stick. I don't think anyone should care when people say that the only way to play Street Fighter IV is with a fight stick. I think that all that matters is what controller your most comfortable with.
