Alan Wake Preview »

Remedy's perennially absent third-person thriller Alan Wake has finally taken shape over the past few months, after several years on the "Hey, whatever happened to that game?" train. Fortunately, Remedy appears to finally be on track to deliver the hotly anticipated title sometime next year, and yet Remedy isn't stopping there with the Alan Wake goodness.

The game's lead writer Sam Lake told Edge Online that from the beginning, Remedy has been "structuring a larger story than just the first game so we already have plans in place for how the story will go on."

The game features an episodic story structure, so I'd expect some kind of expansion on that format for the future installments as well. Oooh! I smell spin-off!

Here's my pitch: "Demon and Stephen," a sitcom-styled game staring one of the hellish creatures Alan Wake encounters in the first game and a recently divorced magazine editor who has moved to Bright Falls to take over as the editor-in-chief of the local newspaper. Remedy, I'll be expecting your call any day now to get started on the script.

Do you think well see Alan Wake 2 before the next console generation?
