Telltale Jokes About Making A 2D Adventure Game -- Don't Count On It

Tales of Monkey Island WiiWare Release Date Still Not Finalized

Even though Telltale Games has done a fantastic job of almost single-handedly revitalizing the adventure game genre, a revelation we can all be thankful for, people (including yours truly) haven't been able to give up the hope that someone would get around to producing another hand-drawn 2D point 'n click. Unfortunately, the way Telltale talks about the idea, it doesn't seem very likely.

"I’ve been reliably informed by our animators that making a 2D game that’s as interactive and good-looking as Tales [of Monkey Island] would cost a bajillion dollars," joked Telltale designer Mike Stemmle in an interview with 4 Color Rebellion. " I told them that that wasn’t a real number, but then they showed me a spreadsheet, and I’ll be damned if it didn’t add up to a bajillion dollars. So I guess that answer is 'maybe'?"

And by "maybe," Stemmle probably means "no." Bummer.
