With Infinity Ward’s eagerly awaited Modern Warfare 2 pretty well locked down in terms of release date, features and all that jazz, there isn’t really much left to speculate about (other than if those night vision goggles included in the Prestige edition of the game actually work correctly). Fortunately, the folks over at NintendoEverything picked up on this bit of tinder that should keep the rumor fires alive for a few more minutes.
Turns out game stores in Australia have been displaying preorder boxes for a Wii version of MW2 for some time now, and one Aussie even managed to snag a supposed picture of said game box. And if that wasn't enough, it seems that retailers have also been accepting preorders for the game for just as long. “But wait. Modern Warfare 2 for Wii hasn’t been announced yet. What gives?”
Well, considering that Activision told Kotaku yesterday that the company is not bringing MW2 to the Wii, I’d say Aussie retailers have some explaining to do to gamers who have thrown down cash to preorder the nonexistent game. Then again, accepting preorders for a game that there was a good chance would be released sometime down the line (especially since Call of Duty: World at War was released for Wii last year) isn’t that surprising. After all, it’s a pretty crafty way to scrape together a few extra preorder bucks while you wait for the game to be officially announced.

I've got a good theory on why games like MW never make it to the Wii.For one I think it has alot to do with the system not having a harddrive.How can you nickle and dime gamers for mappacks without having a big enough storage unit.People will say its the online but the conduit has already proven that not to be true.

I'm betting on a wii version coming out. I wont say it will be as direct a port as COD:WAW was but i do think the game will be coming out in some form on the wii. Activision would be passing up a great opportunity seeing the success of COD:WAW on the wii. imo, codwaw is more fun on the wii because of the solid controls, it would be a shame not to be able to play mw2 on the wii.

I always knew Aussies were a bunch of criminal progeny with nothing better to do than wrestle with animals larger and more venomous than themselves, but this is an all new low. booooo for you douchey commenters splash and gadge, just because you kids are too inbred/ignorant to realize that pointing to aim is the best thing since the joystick doesn't mean the wii sucks or people who own it are stupid.
i personally think that if they could just get some better hardware under the hood to get people over the graphics gripe the wii would be the absolute best system for FPS until then i'm sticking with the PC to do my massive headshot rampages.

i live in australia and i have seen them avalible at more than one place, but i guess if your stupid enough to own a wii you deserved to be stiffed, i hope that whoever made the wii version up, gets sued.

Im from Australia and i havnt seen them anywhere, but if you like games so much that you will pre-order MW2 then you should know that that 1. We sucks and 2. That Activision and IW havnt announced a Wii version yet. Silly people wasting their money. Not all Australians are stupid.
