Trash Panic

Sony is trying out a new pricing structure for a PlayStation 3 game in Japan. If you download Trash Panic from the PlayStation Network, it'll only cost you about a dollar, but you can only play it three times, then it prompts you for another buck. It's a little like an intermediary step between a demo and the full purchase of a game, or, maybe more accurately, think of it like and old-school arcade machine that demands another quarter when you mess up.

The original game set players back about $16 bucks, so whether you get your money's worth with the new payment plan really depends on how often you play it.

I have no idea if this payment structure will ever come to the U.S. (I kind of doubt it actually), but if it did, would you think it was a good deal? I have mixed feelings. I guess think it would be a good way to check out a game, but also, it's sort of a rip-off.
