Oh noes! Much-awaited (by me, at least) multiplayer war game MAG may be pushed back until 2010. Originally expected in November, retailers Gamefly and GameStop have both recently pushed back the expected MAG release date until early 2010.
A Sony Computer Entertainment spokesperson said "We haven't made any announcements in regards to the launch date, the retailers are just speculating."
If the game is actually a little behind schedule, I wouldn't be surprised. The hook of MAG (256 player battles) is a massive technical challenge, and it seems natural that getting it down pat might require extra time. This game will live and die by how well the online component works, since there is no single-player aspect of the game. But having played MAG, I can tell you that it looks like it will be worth the wait -- it's a very awesome game. Check out my extensive hands-on for gallons of details about this title.
I wonder how many game delays come about because the projected dates are chosen so they're close to the holiday-buying season, as opposed to being realistic representations of when games are finished. Does the date a game is released affect your decision to buy it? Are you more likely to get a game that comes out in November.

This is looking awesome, but I only have one question...if this is meant to feel like a massive battle but splits players into smaller squads won't this end up feeling like any other 32 player shooter? I figured Zipper has already thought of this but I'd really like to know. :D

Holding it until November 2010 is crazy, and besides officially there was no push back because Zipper never gave us release date in the first place. And as for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, they should've had at least one more year to make it there was no structured storyline, the only thing that was nice to look at was explosions (the rest of the graphics looked bland and boring), and the controls were messed up big time. I'm sure there's more problems, but they should've made it decent first before trying to work out the finer things.

Thank God, the longer they take to make it, the better it's going to be, and I need some more good games for my PS3.

man i wish this was gonna be for pc. my pc is much more capable than a ps3 on a bad day. meh i guess i can't win everything.

I say it's a good idea because there is CoD:MW2 Ratchet and Clank and especialy Uncharted 2 that is being released around the same time that could over shadow the game like dead space and mirrors edge that would make it harder to find a full game of 256 players.

With CODMW2 coming out I don't think I would get this games so it is a good idea to push back the date.

i think it is smart to hold it back with MW2 coming. they would get crushed in sales. Really since it is a ps3 exclusive they should wait until november 2010 to release it so it has no competition and people will be ready to pay/play it.

I'm not suprised at this. If this games would have been rush then it would be garbage like Turning Point Fall of Liberty. As long as this game gets released before my birthday I'm fine with it :) If this game would have been released in November it would be competing witih Modern Warfare 2,(and those who has a 360 also) Left 4 Dead 2. All I'm gonna say is that the second that this is avaliable to pre-order you better belive that I'm gonna pre-order it.

Knowing zipper's history with the socom franchise I'm surprised they haven't already released it bugs and all. The socom games zipper made were fun, but buggy and laggy.

Man i was really lookin forward to parachute dropping and air striking 255 other people this Christmas too :(
I wasn't surprised when i saw this though, such a huge gaming engine is necessary for this to be possible, and with so many other exclusive PS3 titles due to come out, or so they say, one of them was bound to be pushed back. As long as the release date for God of War 3 stays the same, i'm ok
