Take-Two's release schedule for 2009 just took a massive blow, as the company just announced a decision to move BioShock 2's release back. BioShock 2 will no longer be released in 2009; the return to Rapture has officially been moved to fiscal 2010. Take-Two has not specified exactly what a "fiscal 2010" release means.
The company did not provide many details about the reasons for BioShock 2's unexpected delay, other than a desire to provide additional development time to "ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve," and hopes 2010 will provide a more upbeat retail environment.
"The decision to shift a release date is never an easy one, especially with a product as highly anticipated as BioShock 2," said Take-Two CEO in the press release. "We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve. As a result, we will now be launching sequels to several of our strongest franchises - including BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption - during the next fiscal year."
Take-Two will be holding a conference call to discuss the impact BioShock 2's delay will have on the company within the hour. I'll be on the call to provide details to you guys.

I understand that there doing quality control and that will make the game better but it doesn't make me happy. I don't have a lot of patience when it comes to delays though. All I want is a good reason why the video game industry can't make a simple day in which the game will come out. Games have been made for a long time so why is there a big hang up on game release dates? NO ONE ever really answers that question and as a result it just makes gamers like me mad that they don't even answer to their fan base.

sucks its delayed I dont mind it being delayed much since Ill be getting like 5 games by the end of this year lol

Too good of a game not to give them whatever time they need....kinda like HL2ep3.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Well, at least we can save our money till then. I'm looking forward to this game, but at least the delay gives us something to look forward to next year.

I am pretty sad its been delayed but atleast I have Bioshock to hold me over until part 2 comes out. Plus I know it will definitly be worth the wait.
ZyloWolfBane
If it makes the game better then Im all for it, now I'll have the time and money for Dragon Age since I wont be worried about Bioshock 2 around the same time.

They're obviously just shelving it until there's less competition. They're not doing a thing to it. Didn't you learn anything from Batman: Arkham Asylum?
crr72n
I don't have any problem with them pushing the game back until next year it just gives them more time to make it as awesome as the first one
Tman88
I don't see much of any wrong with the delay because there are many, many games coming out this fall so there's some good that'll come out of this and I'm sure BioShock 2 will live up to its full potential. Of course, if it's anything like the first game then everyone knows that BioShock 2 has a lot of potential.

If they actually took this time to go ahead and make a full fledged ending for this game.. that would be great... because lets face it.. the first one was amazing.. gameplay and storyline.. EXCEPT for the minute long endings that.. were super disappointing.. So please fix that in this one.
Hypo_the_Dragon
Ok this is REALLY pissin' me off, although I guess if it means the game will be better then go ahead.
Chemfound
I'll gladly wait if it means playing a more enjoyable game

Take all the time in the world, just please do it right.

It's gotta be because of MW2 coming out the next week. Hopefully this is for the better.. Take 2 is doing the right thing and making sure they don't disappoint with this title... good working TT

Delays are a pain, but in the end they serve to benefit the fans. I remember when Final Fantasy XII was going to be released and they ended up delaying it more than 6 months past the original release date(can't remember when but I know that I pre-ordered it from Amazon when it was released that October) and I was glad because the game was fantastic in the end. This isn't great news and I'm a little upset, but isn't going to hurt the game, just make it that much better. Only problem now is that around the time they'll be releasing it, God of War III will be out as well as Final Fantasy XIII, which is a lot to take all at once. But at least I'll have that whole spring-summer before starting Pharmacy school. Take your time Take2, but please be quick about it, hehe!

better to have a later release date than a game that comes out un-polished and buggy. It's not like release dates getting pushed back is a new thing...it has been awhile since a big game like this got delayed though. Im trying to think of the last one but can't remember....hmm oh well.

I'm almost glad about this. With so many "must-have" titles coming this holiday, maybe this will come out at a time when nothing else is. That is fiscally feasible for me.
Socalmic47
What did we expect? We knew something was going to go wrong when they took this title away from the original team... like telling Michael Bay to do a sequel to Schindler's List.
Pwnproof
yea, iam pissed! last week i herd more people where going to help the developers or more developers where jumping on board to help out and now they are delaying it??......funny how they mention the other games they have and what out around the same time. i will be mighty upset if the delay is because they want to work on the other games more so there catalog for that "fiscal" time has more cash to roll in for them all at once!!!!!!!
