Mass Effect 2 Story Reveal Dev Diary »

If you make the wrong decision in Mass Effect 2, Commander Shepard will die. You won't see a game over screen -- he will die and not live to see Mass Effect 3. BioWare is making a big deal about this potential consequence as part of Mass Effect 2's hype train, but are gamers willing to gamble 20 to 30 hours of their gaming life on a bad decision?

Watch this video and judge for yourself.

Wow, i didnt even think about how I should go back and have a save from the first game as a bad guy. Damn i need to play it again with all the options saved so I can get the most out of the next two. I always knew that it would continue over but I never actually though about all the possibilities. Truely innovative.

yo guys ima buy mass effect 1 and play it through twice so i can see the four different routes you can take in ME2. The evil all the way,(ME1-3) the new evil. The good all the way ME(1-3), and the new good!
    Looks pretty sweet =D

The only thing i'm very interesting is...

what song will Bioware or the game composer will pick for the ending?

i mean, i did everything for ME1 from main story to side missions and
getting all the rare stuff etc, and finishing the game on hardest level ever
to listen M4, Part 2 by the faunt is AWESOME way to listen to cause it fit
    the game,

so i'm curious what brand new song will they pick for the ending

the wait for this game is truly soul crushing! i can only rip through me1 so many times to create new jumping off points for the sequel.

i did hear a bummer of a rumor though...i heard that if your choices lead to shepard's death in me2...it is only "your" shepard who dies, and the third mass effect will just have you recreate shepard with none of your decisions from the previous games carrying over. i hope and wish this isn't accurate, because it seems like sort of a cop out.

....i'm still going to buy the crap out of this game though!

Looks great, I hope it comes out on PC and 360 simultaneously. Or atleast within a couple months of each other...

I wanna know how it carries over your data from ME1 cause I know a lot of people replayed over and over again with the same save file so they could keep all their gear. Will it take the first completetion or the most recent one? Or is it a choice...

Looking forward to this game a lot!

I think mass effect might truly be the best game ever. If the e3 trailer is as good as it looks it could be revolutionary. I loved mass effect 1 but 2 looks like a new animal

it would suck to restart a game after spending over 30 hours of gameplay crafting a character. even if you do save crawl, you'll never know (at least during launch time) which decision caused the catastrophic ending. after building a character you created from scratch for two games, the thought of losing him/her is a bit overwhelming...

...but i am EXTREMELY intrigued of what happens during the third game if shepard dies. yes, plot-wise it will be interesting to see it unfold without the main protagonist. but what will bioware implement to fill the spot of shepard? will we create a new character? will you take over a squad member? will you be able to choose to be human or alien? i'm willing to bet bioware has a cool trick up their sleeve, AND (dare i say?) it could be better than keeping you original shepard character...

at this point, i'm a little more excited about what will happen AFTER my shepard character dies in mass effect 2.it would be a little time consuming to start another game of ME2 after you finish the game and realize you made the wrong decisions. and in an ideal situation you would want to keep a character you created from scratch and built up over the course of two games...

...but i'm also VERY intrigued to see what exactly happens after shepard dies. do you take control of one of the party members? do you create another character? is your character human or alien? can the user CHOOSE which alien? i'm sure bioware has something up their sleeve, and (dare i say) it could be better than keeping your shepard character...

What Bioware is doing that hasn't been done for a long time, is add excitement and uncertainty to the game. You are going to not have the ability to start over or fix your errors, which seems to be how games are right now. "Oh, we don't want you to be frustrated. Here start all over just don't stop playing our game."

No! They are making you have to be careful, which adds excitement, stress, and hella a lot of fun. I can't wait!!
