Right now, so long as you're an Xbox Live Gold member, there's no additional financial barrier to participate in 1 vs. 100. Will it be like that forever? Microsoft isn't willing to commit at this point, dodging questions from GamesIndustry.biz about whether 1 vs. 100 would move over to a subscription model, remain free or something else.
"In the beta season 1 it will be free for our Gold subscriber," said Xbox Live marketing manager Tania Chee. "Moving forwards we have nothing to announce at this time. We ultimately hope it will be a resounding success so we can move forward into future seasons."
GamesIndustry.biz pushed Chee on the topic -- what about subscriptions?
"I don't know what's going to happen to be honest," she said. "It's a test for us to prove the platform will be a success."
People seem to be really digging 1 vs. 100. Would you pay for it?

Wrong time for me to accrue yet another expense. I would not pay for it.
