The excellent looking Forza Motorsport 3 has a bunch of new features including its own movie-making tool, but it won't be adding a few things that fans were hoping would make the cut.
Turn 10 has confirmed that Forza Motorsport 3 will not including nighttime races, weather effects, or rally car racing. Good thing it'll pack in over 400 cars and 100 tracks & variations.
What features would you like to see in Forza 3?

So Forza 3 isn't going to include 3 things that Gran Turismo implements poorly? This is why Gran Turismo will continue to be a lackluster sim underneath its visuals. With games like Dirt 2, rally on GT5 will feel cheap and repetitive. Gran Turismo has yet to show a realistic implementation of their 'damage model' or accurate physics pertaining to damage, but they made a seperate Rally game? Is realistic damage not a core component of rally racing? I was FORCED to race rally to get 100% completion in GT, and I can say with certainty that it felt like a chore. There is just something about the way Forza feels and comes together that gives it replay value as anything can happen with damage, so your eyes are peeled and always concentrating on the race at hand. On the contrary, in GT when I finished a race I felt this sigh of relief and had no inclination to race it again. Mash X, mash square, turn, 'wow these cars are pretty' and repeat. I don't know whether I finished those GT games because I actually liked the racing, or because I just wanted to beat the game..

if you want realistic controls, put down the ps3 or 360 controller and go race a real car. no video game will ever give you a realistic experience.

I only care about the rally cars. Night time racing and weather effects just don't do it for me. My main wish is that there are tracks mainly for drag racing so I don't have to go through 20 online matches just to figure out which is an actual road race. oh, and also make some racing series for U class cars.

Im sorry to say that racing games are behind the curve when it comes to inivation in games. All that gamers want are cool cars, large garages and fun tracks to drive. When established franchises that dont come out annually (like NFS) dont lead the curve its just embarrising. By now day/nights races and weather effect (at least rain)should be a given, hell Undergroud 2 on my original xbox had that.

In my opinion GT lost it's simulation credibility when first, you couldn't do a doughnut right, and second when they added the rally races. There isn't even any ground deformation to simulate a real rally race. Also, there physics is not even deep enough to accurately simulate all the variables that occur with rally racing. Not even loose earth can be calculated by their physics engine. So all you fans that love to claim simulation. I'm sorry, but GT disappoints in that area. Different types of races requires different physics calculations and GT is going to disappoint more then people think. The more race variations they add, the more scrutiny will befall them.

who knows how difficult it would be to add weather to the game. you also have to add weather based physics calculations and realistically when there are pools in certain areas of the tracks, that would have to be simulated too. GT has cheap weather affects. You'd have to calculate tire temp how much water each type of tire can pass, how much water is in different areas of the track and tons of other bits of information. Remember, physics is what Turn10 loves. Weather simulating would be a daunting task. Like i said. Gt's is just a look and they add some slip with the handling. But it is by far not a accurate simulation of how a vehicle would behave in let's just say in the rain.
And then some of you cry foul, there you go, if you want "Real" weather simulation. Not even PGR's weather was accurate, but then again, it was no simulation.

So they sacrificed all that just for the movie making tool? That's stupid.

You're all wrong! Mario Kart and Burnout are the true racing sim kings xD

is it me or does forza 3 just look and sound like an arcade racing game. This in no way can compete with the realness fell of GT 5, the only driving simulator.
klyonawesome
I'm sorry. GT is the only racing simulator.

Initially, that sounds kind of boring, but with 400 cars and supposedly much better physics all around (not t mention all the user modifications that can be done), I do not think that it will be missed. That is until we see how much of that stuff GT5 has that Forza 3 won't (or vice versa?). Either way, we won't know till we play it.

Gran Turismo is so very overrated. The game does absolutely nothing that hasn't already been done. They are also greedy thieves for charging everyone $30 for a damn demo. They take forever to release each one, an all they have going for them is good graphics. The controls are almost always awful. I haven't played Forza so I can't give an opinion on it. Who knows, my friend may convince me to get Gran Turismo 5, but I know I wont like it, and I love Racing Sims.

@ capt_armchair Why cant you have both? Like every other racing game?
I still don't understand why Forza Motorsport 2 was such a big hit. Yes, I am I Sony fanboy, but just hear me out. I got Forza 2 for free with my XBox 360 Elite (along with Marvel Ultimate Alliance), I started to play, and right off the bat the controls felt terrible, slow, and unrealistic. So I thought, well, maybe I just have to get used to them. So I played some more races, I played against friends, my brothers, and still the controls felt terrible. I cant say anything about Forza 3 yet, but taking out features is never a good thing. Plus, just for kicks ... Gran Turismo for the PLAYSTATION PORTABLE has DOUBLE the amount of cars!

this game will never compare to Gran Turismo 5, i just bought Gt5 Prolouge and its already better than this from what i have seen, heard, and played at conferences/expo's and Gt5 is suppose to be even better than the prolouge with over 1000+ cars and more modes, and it already has night-time tracks, weather effects and rally racing. cant wait til 2010!! ill probally pick this up anyway just to see if it even lives up to half the hype it geting lol

I love forza series but they do tend to disappoint a lot, i remember the awesome forza 2 trailer a few years ago that had the corvette wheel being ripped off, i wanted to have that happen in the game, but sadly nothing, i do like gt but i prefer forza becuase of the damage effects that it did have
