Everybody, I have some very sad news: Pop star Michael Jackson has died. I'll let you collect yourself for a bit while the news sinks in... Don't worry about The Beatles: Rock Band, though; your precious video game will be fine. Jackson's death will not affect The Beatles: Rock Band, except, presumably, there will be one less player.
Jackson owned 50 percent of the rights to many Beatles tunes, and his estate will likely auction off his assets to pay his massive debts. According to Harmonix this potential transaction will not affect the launch of the game. Obviously, the rights to the tunes used in the title have already been secured.
The game is still on schedule for release on September 9th, and there is no chance the track list will be compromised.
Here is a list of other things Michael Jackson's death did not affect:
- Global weather patterns
- Maritime law
- The ongoing feud between The Iron Sheik and Sgt. Slaughter
- Production schedule of Saw 6
- The thoughts of serious people
- Ongoing Iranian revolution
- My emotions
As always, feel free to add to our ridiculous list in our comment system...now with rating!

I hadn't grooved to a Michael Jackson to tune in a long time. When I heard about the concerts in London, I was sort of ambivalent because he wasn't coming to the U.S. so why should I care? All the plastic surgery and weirdness that was going on around him made me just write him of - sad to say. Although I never believed he was guilty of molesting a child but I was so angry with him for being so easily manipulated by these parents who used their children to get close to him. Unfortunately, he was hard headed and had to learn the hard way - a hard way which I think eventually lead to his death.
When I found out he died, I was so shocked because I thought it was just a rumor. I mean, how many times have we heard MJ was on his death bed? And that morning, Farrah Fawcett died and my fianc and I were talking about who was next becuase it always happens in threes. I said, it will be someone semi-famous because it always is. However, I was SO wrong because the next one would be the greatest entertainer in my lifetime.
I am surprised that I've actually taken it this hard - I told my friend the other day that I'm just devastated and it is had to explain why but I am.

Stephen Johnson you must be one huge jerk. You could've left out the list of things his death didn't affect, that was very distasteful whether you liked his music or not. I hope you get bad Karma for speaking ill of the dead. It might have been only a SLIGHTLY distasteful JOKE if you would've left out "The thoughts of serious people", serious people do like the music of MJ even if they didn't like him as a person so their thoughts ARE affected. And "My emotions", we don't care whether you hated him and/or his music, keep your UNSERIOUS thoughts to yourself. We don't care that your a cold heartless moron that doesn't even have enough emotions to feel for a family grieving their loss and for YOUNG CHILDREN that lost their father. I hope he haunts you...at night...in your bed...and touches you were you wouldn't want him to...although he wouldn't be doing it out of perversion because your so obviously ugly he would probably find you repulsive like i do, but I think he should do it just because if he were to haunt you that's probably the thing that would piss you off and gross you out the most and it's just what you deserve.

Hahah, that's a fantastic list of things it didn't affect. I'd say it did effect my emotions though. It makes me pissed off that people are still talking about MJ's death. I don't honestly think his life is any more important than the millions of people who died since he did.
I knew he owned part of the Beatles, so I was curious about this... glad to see some news about it here. :p

Ok so MJ was able to buy the rights to all the songs that Lennon wrote, big deal (unless of course your Paul McCartney who just can't get stop living in the past). I'm sure Paul will once again be disappointed by again not holding any rights to Lennon's works (the true genius of the band). Paul you suck as a writer and performer just give it up all ready. Ringo moved on, it's about time you do too.

Jackson's stake in The Beatles catalog was one of the first questions that came to mind when news broke of his untimely death. It's very unfortunate that artists lose control of their music, and there are no rights bigger than that of The Beatles.

Selling the rights, eh? Calling Sir Paul McCartney.....

You're older then I figured..
:P
I like the pictures though...gives a bit more personality to the news
:D
I figure they'd be insane to sell off the rights...as it's something that continues to generate..

Michael Jackson's death did not affect SJ from looking any more or less like Paul Giamatti.
So now that we've cast SJ in "TheFeed: The Movie", and Patrick Klepek is obviously gonna be played by Andy Samberg, who's gonna play R Pad and Billy Berghammer?
Warheart1188
I thought Jackson sold off his share of The Beatles back in '06 to help him with his debts

ThatUFO, it's not my avatar. It's my face. I look like Paul Giamatti in an almost spooky way.

Have your respect for the King of Pop. Please don't list what his death didn't affect, because they are a billion people that cared for the man that changed the face of music and the world.

Ok off topic, am I the only one that thinks Mr. Johnson's avatar makes him look like Paul Giamatti?

Oh come on now, I was really looking forward to the cancellation of Saw VI, and if this didn't do it what is it gonna take an earth shattering KaBoom?
