The 7th Annual Bungie Day is in full swing, and in honor of the celebration, Bungie has released some info and a few screenshots of three of the new multiplayer maps players can expect to see in the highly anticipated Halo 3: ODST, set to be released September 22. In case you’re keeping score at home, ODST will feature 24 multiplayer maps in total (all of those found in Halo 3, the three Halo 3 map packs, and these three new ones).
Here is what Bungie would like you to know about the new maps:
- Heretic returns players to familiar ground as the Halo 2 arena “Midship” makes its long-rumored debut in Halo 3. The stark interior of the Pious Inquisitor might appear austere on first glance, but Heretic’s symmetrical spaces require players to execute complex strategies in order to outplay their opponents.
- Citadel may be a long abandoned Forerunner stronghold, but its small, symmetrical confines are far from secure. Two opposing bases offer little safety for players looking for solace. Instead, Citadel forces small squads to stay in constant communication, keep their heads on a swivel, and be prepared to adjust combat tactics in close quarters.
- Longshore lacks the commercial ships that once made it a lucrative port for Old Mombasa, but it still bustles with activity. Designed for large scale combat and well suited for smaller affairs, Longshore’s multitude of industrial buildings, elevated walks, and open inlets conspire to create a complex battleground tailored for multiple combat scenarios.
Hit the jump for two more pictures from the new maps.

Anyone feel like complaining about having too much multiplayer goodness to enjoy in Halo 3: ODST?

1. Betas are free for those who won/given too.
2. Not everyone owns halo, not everyone has Live. There are 4 map packs. 4 maps are free. 3 maps are 5 bucks, 6 maps are 20 bucks Since it's technicaly 2 map packs in one. Use to be every map pack that included 3 maps was 10 bucks.

It's sort of like all the fans are thinking "wtf why won't Bungie give us what we want?" and Bungie's on the other side asking "wtf do these people want??"
I wish I could have been on the multiplayer dev team for Halo 3. I seriously think Gears and COD are only getting so much attention because Halo dropped the ball. (except for COD4, which was still flawed, but so unique it hurt.)

whenever it comes to Halo multiplayer I get so irritated. Halo 2 was AMAZING online, but was plagued with cheaters and it took way too long for new maps to come out (and quite a few of those new maps were garbage, with only 3 or 4 being gems). But seriously, other than the cheaters, Halo 2 was playable all the way until the very end.
Halo 3 however has been an almost complete disappointment for multiplayer. It looks like Halo; occasionally it feels like Halo; in reality it's not Halo. I don't understand why EVERY Halo 2 map wasn't on Halo 3 AT LAUNCH. Seriously, how difficult could it have possibly been to redo Halo 2's maps without adding or changing anything?
And although they're doing it sort of right for ODST...the maps on Halo 3 are incredibly lame by comparison. Seriously Bungie wtf

@RROD
I think you can get a beta pass code without getting or preordering a game. Like winning a contest, thats how I got the endwar beta and stresstest key.

1. Betas are free.
2. 9 million people already have Halo 3 forge and Halo 3 theatre so you're telling me that paying $60 for it again is a good deal?
3. 3-5 hours for a campaign is extremely short.
4. Bungie is a one trick pony. If you don't think so then what game not named Halo have they made this gen?
You are paying $60 for a 3-5 hour campaign with 3 new maps. This is because MS thinks that everyone will line up to get ripped off by this but it looks like they will shoot themselves in the foot on this one.

I am a self-proclaimed Halo nut. Even though I have concerns about the "length vs. value" factor, my biggest question is about the difficulty factor. The ODSTs do not have regenerating shields. Are they going to bring back a health meter? I thought Halo 2 (on Legendary) was by far the hardest of the three, with Halo 1 coming in second. It seemed that Halo 3 was the easiest one of all on Legendary, or maybe it is because I had become a better player forged in the furnace of Halo 2's "die every 10 seconds" hordes of hell mode. I will wait until the game is reviewed before I make a decision about buying it as I think most people should. Sixty dollars can go a long way for me and I need to think twice before blowing it on a game. Any game.

@RROd
You forgot about the Reach beta, Halo 3 forge, Halo 3 theater, and Halo 3 screen shots, and ODST firefight. People dont have to buy ODST for the new maps either. And the campaign isnt very short like 2-3 hours, what G4tv was expecting. It's 3-5 hours. It's 3-5 because the player doesn't have to finish every single world since it's open world. And the no flaming bit, ya i doubt that RROD. Like what you said Bungie being a one trick pony.

Betas are free.
dynomite
dont forget the beta they bringing out

There could be more than three new maps, bungie usually tries to surprise their players. Not to mention they could bring new maps on exclusively for ODST
catrachohn
i meant "last 2 map packs" and yes! full campaign!! it was originally made to be a short campaign. but now its going to be a full experience!
catrachohn
ohh flaming! flaming! so its a bad thing that they are giving you all the maps from halo 3? if you dont have the last 2 maps this is probably the best of deals. if you already have them then you are getting three new maps and "a full campaign!!"
Penetrator72
Wow. What a rip off! I had heard it included all the Halo 3 maps, but I didn't realize that we only got 3 new maps for $60 bucks. I'm better off staying with Halo 3.
Grim Angel
Its not Bungie that wanted to release it at $60, its Microsoft being greedy as hell.
OneEyedMonsta
Pass. Hopefully Halo Reach will be something to get excited for.
RRODisBack
So this game will include the Halo 3 maps and the Halo 3 map packs huh? How is that a deal for the people who already have those maps to pay $60 for this with a very short campaign? No flaming, honest question.
RabidBadgerMTM
If thats all we get, might just rent it of gamefly and buy it when the price eventually drops.
