Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Review

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has somehow wormed its way into America's collective heart, earning mega bucks at the box office. Don't hold it against us that we were a little hesitant at first to check out the movie's video game sibling. We've been burned in the past by movie spin-offs (yeah, Wanted, I'm looking at you) and didn't know if we could take having our fragile little hearts broken again.

However, X-Play's Transformers expert Matt Keil reviewed the game and it wasn't all that bad. From his review:

"If you loved the movie, and for some reason a lot of people did, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is worth a weekend rental. It gets more things right than the first film’s game, but still doesn’t quite rise above the “average” threshold. There’s clearly a good game to be had out of the Transformers property, though, so here’s hoping Activision keeps trying while they have access to the license. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows proved that you don’t need a movie tie-in to make a good licensed game, so maybe next year’s recently announced Transformers title will follow suit."

OK, Somebody wanted transformation to have a more central role in the game. In Revenge, they made the vehical transformation button be the continuous holding of the right trigger? WTF?? I mean the control scheme is so screwed up I don't know if I'm either Shooting or Transforming. Everything would have been Icecream if they just got the control scheme right.

As a hardcore gamer, I knew better than to get involved with a tie-in game, because they always, always suck. It's like being made to watch bad episodes of VH1's I Love The 80's over and over and over again.

I believe they're just trying to be ironic. The large majority of people who've seen the movie have enjoyed it greatly, including myself, but of course some people just seem to think they can stay ahead of the curve, act cool by dumping on a movie that is based on an 80's cartoon show which is still cool today, but really cheesy when you think about it. You're not cool for thinking that the movie is bad, get over it, accept it for what it is and don't take yourselves so seriously. Money talks and even if there are some dissenters, in the end the 3rd is coming for 2011 and I for one and many more, can't wait!

I just don't get why people blow money on movies they know that will be terrible. As for me ,if I know a movie will be crap I'll just see it on a torrent. Why waste the money?I get a better satisfaction on watching a bad cheesey movie like Robogeisha for free than blowing $10 on a bad movie like Transformers 2.

I was expecting nothing better than mediocrity from this game. Also, for those of you who want a great analysis of the movie:

A loud applause from me for this review. I was beginning to think I was the only person who thought the movies sucked.

This game was worth renting for a day for $3 at Blockbuster. It was worse than the movie, though. I actually loved the movie. It did only what it could do: deliver giant robot fights and lots of action. Nothing else.

I wonder why the Transformers movie merchandise (including the games) feature ONLY the transformers and not the humans?
