Battlefield 1943 Guadalcanal Trailer »

Updated: Guadalcanal Trailer Live!

Fans of EA’s wildly popular Battlefield franchise will be pleased to know that the newest installment, Battlefield 1943, will be released on Xbox Live on July 8 (1200 MS Points), and July 9 on the PlayStation Network. Unfortunately, PC players will have to wait until the fall to get their hands on the game, despite their being the reason for the franchise's massive success.

Offering a more stylized take on the World War II FPS, Battlefield 1943 will once again give players the chance to fight on foot, in vehicles, and in the sky across several famous WWII locations in the South Pacific. Throw in destructible environments and a streamlined class system, and you have a recipe for some good old-fashioned WWII mayhem.

Anyone out there looking forward to jumping back into a WWII Battlefield game?

I think this is only going to be the pacific battlefront, not any Euro stuff going down. Also I hope they improve on what BC unfortunately didn't do or had doen wrong. Sure it was a great game, but there were so many small things about the gameplay, a bunch of mechanics and "explosion radius" problems just o be general about that, and also, I ranked to the highest rank really fast. In Modern Combat, it took me 300 hours plus to get to 32,000 points and the pph was a good balance to show peoples true skill, not just oh you've play for 700 hours, and though you may not be good enough, you finally got the highest rank because you played so long, not that you got it quick like someone who was good at the game. I digress, really I think, even for a downloadable game this will still kick ass.

WOW only 6 comments. I was hoping this was going to be a popular release.... :( guess not. Why are most people content to just play Call of Duty forever? Does this game need Japanese zombies or BS perks like last stand to get the little kiddies excited? I will purchase this with out a doubt but I would like to see some maps located in the European theater of WW II for this game eventually.

Bad Company on the 360 was awesome. Does anyone know how many game modes there will be? I am sure Conquest mode will be there but will there be a Gold Rush type mode? It would be awesome if they could release a map pack later with battles that take place in Europe. I would pay another $10 to get 3 or 4 European maps.
