Gold Farming May Not Be Banned In China

China Officially Bans Gold FarmingIt pains me to call TheFeed writer Jake Gaskill wrong, but he is wrong, wrong, wrong--and I'm not just talking about his moral failings. Jake was wrong when he told you China had official banned gold-farming in MMOs.

In fact, according to Blues News, the new Chinese law states that it is illegal to trade virtual money for real goods. Trading fake money for real things is the exact opposite of gold farming. The law exists to keep Chinese people from using PayPal like services to gamble and/or purchase real things. You can still pay actual money for fake gold, if you're a Chinese idiot or something.

Oh, and if you're running a sweatshop filled with 12 year-old Chinese kids grinding WoW gold for 56 hours a day, your business is safe.

When I heard this news, I almost panicked. I play a lot of WoW and I don't know what to do. I have to know if this is really true. So yes, they are not really banning gold farming. My favorite blogger EGF wrote something about this. -- http://www.wowgoldfacts.com/20 09/07/06/the-story-behind-the- chinese-brouhaha-lost-in-trans lation-indeed/

This is why you should verify your news before you even post. I would normally just let this pass, but I would have to disagree on how you view gold farming.

There are ethical gold farming companies out there who do things fair and square. Banning isn't the solution - putting those that delve into spamming and hacking are the ones that should be banned.

If you're going to buy gold, buy from reputable websites.

My brother sold his wow account back when wow had no expansions. Turns out a year later he tried to log back on, some chinese idiot forgot to change the password, and had farmed 20,000 Gold (Pre-BC) and stashed it in the back. Damn Chinese Gold farmers, spamming Ironforge chat with websites and farming muh monah.

Of course "Dr." Gaskill is wrong, Mr. Johnson. Didn't you hear? He is a dirty, stinking, arm-chopping 'Nole.

    Go 'Canes!
