Microsoft's Kodu Game Lab has been released for 400 MS Points ($5) today. The program, available through Xbox Live Community Games, will allow users to create their own games and environments using a robust scripting language. Raymond and I saw Kodu at GDC earlier this year and you can read Raymond's impressions of the tool.

Are you going to download Kodu? Still confused about what it is? Watch this helpful video walkthrough!

This program reminds me a lot of Logo and that friendly turtle that could draw out programs, but for 2009. I'd probably download it if I wasn't too busy playing games. I don't quite have the patience for programming at this point, but I'd recommend it for anyone trying to teach a child logic and get him or her ready for a computer science degree.

    @blindsideofthem
    if you talking to me im only bashing this because it FALSELY claims that this game teaches you how games are made and that their programming language is great for making games, when cleary this is no where near how games are made, their are no drag and drop options and stuff like that in the industry..

    Oh yeah, and since when did LBP ever let you control the AI?

    Really? People are really sticking to this "ripping off" LBP? Are you really so misinformed to believe that LBP was the first way in which people could make their own levels? Jeeze yer dumb. This is programming (albeit in a fairly simplified way), and not a side scroller. LBP just lets you make little levels and place environments. This on the other hand is MUCH more in depth by letting you change how the characters interact with the world.
    I love seeing people look for any reason to let their inner fanboy come out and hate, even if it's as misinformed as this situation...

    @R11NickeyR11
    exactly ,people who get this are gonna think they can make games and get in the industry when really they cant because this is as pointless as GameMaker..if you really want to learn how to program games and get in the industry learn a REAL language like C++ and/or C#, and Microsoft has already released tools to make C# even easier so you should learn a language.

    Also , hey how long you been programming in C++, im just about 2 Years :)

    Too simple and only can program Microsoft platforms. I'm sticking with C++ the universal language.

    Can you program you're own music? That's what I used to do back in my game programing days. If I can do that and share them with others that would be cool.

    Already downloaded it last night, tons of fun to play with.
    Wish the videos of it didn't make it seem so ridiculous.

    I don't really understand the LBP fanboys calling the game out, its similar in a sense that you build games. Thats about where it ends. Yes, it has a cartoony art style, but so does Mario. Why can't you just like both? Nobody's ripping anybody off.
